So I've been out of the loop for quite a while now, since I left my previous job, and since then have been doing household chores and playing video games, haven't really been checking the glade at all. Lots of new stuff, some good, some bad, and some just downright depressing. Bad news first: my wife's friend who was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year passed away. She went downhill really fast, every time we saw her she was far worse than she had been the time before. It's hard to believe that it has not even been a year since she first started showing symptoms. She died at home a few weeks ago, just like she wanted, surrounded by friends and family. She was a strong minded, independant woman who raised 3 girls on her own. She will be missed. Better news: I'm in a far better mental place than I have been in a long time. Had some time for introspection, and to decompress, and figure things out. The meds help, of course, but more than anything it's been nice to just coast, do housework, cook, and just be. I'm very fortunate to have a loving wife who supported me through this difficult time, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. Best news: I started job hunting in mid-June. Turned down a bunch of "desktop support" and "hell desk" positions, because I'm burned out on that. Had several interviews with a variety of companies, and this morning I got "the call", regarding the job I was hoping to land. A nice, large bump in salary over what I'd been making, and a great bunch of people to work with. It's being fast tracked too, as I should start on Monday, barring any delays in background checks.
