And I'm kinda freaking out. I've always hated job interviews. Always. I have no experience for this position, and I even told her on the phone I didn't when she asked, but they still asked me to come in, so I'm assuming they'll have training or it will be so easy that I'll be able to pick it up quick. It doesn't seem like I need a whole lot of training to operate a shrink wrap machine, but I have no idea. The part I know I'll do good at is that it requires a lot of lifting up to 40lbs and standing all day. Both of which I can do super easy(though I'll admit that I've never done it for 10 hours straight). So, I don't know what to think. This is the first call back I've gotten out of the 100+ applications I've filled since moving here and it has me rather nervous. But worst of all...I'm going to have to trim my epic hobo beard which makes me a sad panda. |

Dude, what is there to be scared of? Someone invites you into a room for a little while to talk about yourself and answer questions. Don't sweat it |

Congrats on the callback. I'm gonna go with both ojt and you'll pick it up quickly. In the interview, emphasize work ethic and dependability, you'll do fine. Epic hobo beards are overrated. Neatly trimmed is where it's at. |

Good Luck on the interview Raltar! I hate them too, not matter how infrequently I get to do them =) |

Thanks everyone. Just been a while since my last interview. Ugh. Kaffis Mark V wrote: Epic hobo beards are overrated. Neatly trimmed is where it's at. Well, it's neat and trimmed now. But my face is really cold. |

You'll get used to the cold, trust me. Last time I operated a shrink wrap machine was about 35 years ago, one of my first jobs. Yes, it was really easy. One part of the interview I always dread is "Do you have any questions?" If you get to that part without having any questions to ask here are a few: Will you be trained to do maintenance on the machine? What types of plastic do they use for the shrink wrap? Are the replacement rolls stored nearby and will you be able to change them yourself? Will you need to wear any protective gear? When can I start? |

How soon do you think I can get a raise? Can I start after my backpacking trip across Europe? Is that your real hair? How many sick days can I take before I need a doctor's note? |

Maybe I was nervous for the wrong reasons. Because I didn't get an interview today, they just had me fill out a bunch of paperwork(paperwork that seemed familiar as I've filled out stuff like this before after I had already been hired). After filling out the paperwork, she said she needed to run a background and reference check and that I should hear from her on Monday. I'm so confused. |

Well as long as you haven't killed anyone it sounds like you'll be hired. |

Well, as long as they don't hold my credit score against me(as I've defaulted on my student loans and it has prevented me from getting jobs before, but most of those jobs involved handling money). |

Sounds like they're mainly looking for a warm body that will be reliable, show up on time, and not lose a digit in the machinery, really. I'm with Lenas, I think you're in. |

I guess we'll find out on Monday...but I do have this small feeling of hope. I'm not letting it get too large, but it is there. |

Seems to me they wouldn't waste the time and money to fill out that paperwork on you if they didn't plan on hiring you. It's sounding pretty good, dude! Sorry for your loss of the epic hobo beard. |

No job for me! They didn't call on Monday like they said, so I called them today. They said that they interviewed the first two people and went with them. Kind of annoying. |

Wow, so you trimmed your epic hobo beard for nothing, huh. Really, that sucks. Hope something else comes along soon for you. |

My son feels sorry for you, man. He almost cried when I was drawing the headstone for your epic beard. Oh and my son says "That was pretty stupid. He shoulda got the job before he shaved his beard." Attachment: epichobobeard.jpg [ 20.55 KiB | Viewed 1665 times ] |

That is the most epic thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I am humbled. Seriously. |
