Dear SD School District admins, How the **** do you expect me to cover 18 weeks of material in 9 weeks? I tell you how with the following answer. " Oh just do your best, but still give them the required cycle test the district needs by the time they are finished." Yea OK. No, don't think about my school when you re-write the curriculum for Social Studies in 6th grade. No, just think of the other three schools who have less students, which means they only have 3 homeroom teachers, but we have 4. A Big FU goes out to the those who decided to cut my classes into only teaching Social Studies half the year, but I still have to cover the same amount of stuff as the other schools, while you assigned the stupid intervention program to me and the science teacher to teach the other part of the year. "See it is ok because they only have 35 mins to teach their subjects but you have 70 mins periods." This is the answer you give me. Yeah, sure which means I have to double up on material. Which means if I fall a week behind I fall two weeks behind. OK, lets only cover the surface material with children who already score poorly, so they really won't get it even more, because they can't read a textbook two grade levels above their heads. Let's do all of this Instead of actually doing some work that is called TEACHING!!!! Sorry I care that I teach them more and make it fun and interesting. SORRY I am so far behind, but I am not your monkey and will teach my way. The way kids were meant to learn. Not force feed facts that wiil mean nothing or relate nothing to their lives, but lets make them accountable for the pointless details of different parts of the curriculum by giving a useless district test. Especially, when I just had a child ask me "What is a coastline?" Come on and you are worried about pointless facts they aren't going to get. I am not a miracle worker. Time for a new job!! Thank you, Oonagh |

I hear a lot of friends saying the same things, Oonagh, just different details. I have two very close friends who both quit teaching to take lower paying jobs as secretaries. Its very sad the way our education system is run...we have a lot of corruption and misappropriation of funds and such at the state level in the education department...a lot of higher ups in power who just don't care and don't do their jobs and spend money on things that don't matter. It all trickles down and the teachers and the kids suffer because of it. Teachers should get the same credit that doctors and soldiers get. |
