Let me start with that this has been the worst two months of teaching for me. Reason? My Tech department has absolutely positively no clue how to run a network. The history behind this rant starts with on February 18th the power goes out at our high school, which in turn shuts down of course the servers, which feed out to the rest of the schools which means my building as well. When they came back up, in my wing only out of the entire district, the wireless stoppped working. Now, for those of you who know that I have Master's in Intrusctional Technology, this kills my lessons. I use the laptops with the kids on a daily basis. We do not have a PC lab because we have laptop carts. In our district, being a lower socio-economic school district, we have suprisingly a large amount of technology(hardware- Laptop carts, Smatboards, remote systems, Etc. due to state funding and grants. Anyway, I sent numerous e-mails for the past two months, made serious amounts of phone calls, and all they did was troubleshoot the laptops. However, if you went anywhere else in the building the laptops work, but they continue to blame the laptops. They would come in my room and tell me this and that about the laptops and I just rolled my eyes. Long story short with my suggestions, on the good word of Foamy, they refused to listen to me. However as of this past Monday, they reset the servers because "Oh No" it was starting to happen to them at our admin building and oh my God it worked. I have only been telling them this for two months, but what do I know I am just a lowly teacher who doesn't know what she is talking about. This situation in itself has pushed me to look elsewhere for the start of school this September.
Thankfully, the Internet is still on and working-- Cross your fingers.
