We've had a lot of spam accounts generated in the last few days. I suspect the CAPTCHA has been broken. I changed it to require answering a question, so hopefully that keeps them out. |

Went through the accounts with 0 posts, and I checked the IPs and emails against stopforumspam.com's database. Out of 58 lurker accounts, I deleted 30 of them, and another 6 I deactivated pending email reverification. |

The captcha needs all adjacent letters to touch and be the exact same color. Then it will be 100% effective. |
