I got a call out of the blue today from my ex. She got arrested on Wednesday apparently and was locked up with her thoughts for a day. It seems she spent that time revisiting her life. Long story short, she apologized for killing our daughter and said she wants to get back together. She then went into an explanation of how awful her life has been since we ended. I explained that we could never be together under any circumstance. But I find myself feeling I pity for her, I have no desire to hurt this girl, there is no vengeance in my heart and I don't want harm to come to her. I truly wished her well and hope she is able to turn her life around.

How odd. I didn't truly believe in my heart of hearts that my Christian ideals would hold up under the fire. I guess 12 years of schooling in Catholicism is bound to rub off.

Reading this it feels self-congratulatory, but I dont mean it as such, it is more reflective.

Whatever, feel free to shred me below.

As soon as I found out it was her, I would have hung up immediately. I can't believe you said anything to her at all.

Well done Hopwin.
You've shown that you've got character; you got much more peace of mind out of handling it that way than you ever could being spiteful.

++

Additionally, being upset demands so much more of you than forgiving and moving on does. It's much easy to turn to a fresh page to write on, than to continue to try and scribble progressively smaller notes in the margin of the page you had been working on.

Good job Hopwin, you handled it much better than most would have.

Along with everything everyone else said, harboring anger over the situation is just a huge energy drain. Energy much better used on more positive things.

My only suggestion would be that when facing a situation such as this in the future... remember to try and harmonize and sing the "no thank you and stop calling".

Not even worth it. Indifference to the point of complete lack of fore or after-thought is a far greater insult to sling; and it achieves this with the added benefit of a lighter heart and a happier mind.

Handled with style and grace. You did well for yourself.

Also you may have done the best thing for her too. There is a tiny chance that she will straighten herself out now. There would have been no chance if you had been foolish enough to take her back. And if you had gotten angry, she would have gotten defensive and angry and rationalized her actions.

Congratulations, you have reached this point and have actually followed through, instead of just thinking about it.

Well done, Hopwin, I'll echo what Vindi said again.

Long story short, she apologized for killing our daughter

:shock:

My apologis, but I must have missed something in regard to this.
