It's bad enough that I have to go into your sorry excuse for a store in the first place. That's just the price of having a teenage daughter for whom only very specific clothing styles are acceptable. It's worse that your merchandise is all priced completely outrageously. It's worse still that you seem to think I'm just another kid coming in to look for weird stuff to wear, when I'm clearly accompanying my daughter.

But really, when I tell you that she can't wear belts with a certain kind of metal in the belt buckle and ask "is this one hypoallergenic" or "do you have any with plastic buckles?", it'd be nice not to be looked at like I'm a total jackass for making a comment that doesn't relate to the Twighlight series, how much life in general sucks, or how the latest band is the great replacement for the last group of sellouts.

I can deal with the fact that you look like a total retard in your purple fuzzy coat, bright green pants, yellow-and-black-checkered-shoe-slipper-things, ear piercings that look like they were made with a 9mm pistol and enormous orange top hat that a muppet would be terrified to wear while I'm asking you my question.

I would however, appreciate an intelligent and reasonable answer. Even "I don't know" would suffice. Your companion at least knew that you had no belts with hypoallergenic buckles, but it might be nice if she could get it out without acting offended at the suggestion that style might not be the only consideration in shopping there. I have news for you, it's not the kids coming in there that keep your *** employed. It's the parents - you know, us folks who open the wallet and don't look like we had a fight in a paint factory?

Sounds like a Hot Topic, and one that I could relate to. When I was a kid (read, when I was in college and had no money), they had this Sonic the Hedgehog shirt I wanted. It was cool, it was brown vintage looking shirt and I, being a huge Sonic the Hedgehog nerd, of course wanted it.

Now that I have a job, they don't carry it anymore. Bastards!!!

I'd be pretty happy if every Hot Topic in the world burned down.

Burning down the nearest Hot Topic is how you get rid of vampires.

But is that more effective at getting rid of the Sanguinarian Vampire, perse?

It sounds to me like the guy needed a couple 9mm piercings.

1. I didn't realize you were that (teenage daughter) old. I figured you were slightly closer to my age.

2. You should consider giving up law enforcement for a career as a professional expositor of vitriol, based on the content of that piece.

Hot Topic used to be a good store until around 2000 I guess - maybe a little later.

I can't find decent fangs or pale makeup or any cologne that smells like freshly dug earth.

I am still amazed that every mini-generation still buys into the hype of gotta have fad items. Go, all of thee, and rent or purchase The Who's movie Quadrophenia. Watch it with your preteen or early teenager and when they start to understand the message of the movie, stirke. Then tell them every generation has it's fads and there are always pathetic victims of those fads. Do they want to be an idiot trying as hard as they can to look cool and spend their allowance money on that crap, because you sure aren't buying it for them, or do they want you to put the money in their college fund instead? The right choice should be rewarded with a trip to the store to get ice cream and root beer!

All kids need to understand that the college fund reverts back to the parents unless its spent on college.

Was not sure if you where ranting about a spensors or a hot topic. Not much of a mall person, save for the Games Workshop store.

How old do you suppose one has to be to have a teenage child?

Well, lets see, teenage is 13, boys can start making babies around 12 + or - a couple years, depending on the kid, but lets say 12. I've known a 26 year old grandfather, but only one. Most early grandparents wait until they are around 30-35. My wife was 35 when our daughter was born. Her best friend at work became a grandmother at the same time my daughter was born. Grandmother and new mother were about three months apart in age, and my wife was the oldest of the two.

!'m 54, my daughter is 18, I can wait until after I retire before she starts breeding, I'm in no rush.

Then again, who know, I may marry and start having more kids, my dad did at about my age. I almost certainly won't, but it could happen. Yes, marriage would be a vital and necessary part of that equation.

derailed, sorry about that.

Thirty. Well, technically my friend's mother was 28 when he turned thirteen, but I really didn't see much of him until we were in high school.

Then again, my parents didn't have kids at all until they were close to thirty, neither did my brother, and I haven't broken the mold. So I generally expect the parents of teenagers to be around forty.

I would guess that a 48 year old would be old enough to have a 13 year old daughter. 43 at the youngest. I'd call a person crazy for having children before they were 30 unless they were very financially secure.

For teenagers, that isn't part of the thought process.

I'm 34. She's my adopted daughter, and my wife's biological daughter. My wife was a rape victim.

There may be more money in that.

People who have children after thirty have reproduced late. Generally speaking, people start having kids at some point in their twenties.

Technically the minimum age is probably around 25. I've heard 1st-hand accounts that would put it at 26.

It's not that crazy. That's pretty much when most people still seem to start having kids.

Thanks Timmit. :)
I agree with DFK though...I didn't really become a fully mature adult until about age 25.
If you can wait til you are 25, for most people, I think that is a good age.
