People were still using limewire?

IPT, Hopwin. IPT forever. Torrents > Gnutella.

If you're really stuck on Limewire, apparently the new version that has come out since it was shut down is better than the old one:

Torrents get you sued, unless you rent a seed box.

Also if you try to download anything, it will probably take 2-3x the file size of bandwidth. So if you download lots of large files you could hit your bandwidth cap.

Hey, Lenas, ever been sued yet for using IPT?

I don't think i've heard of anyone that has...anyway, there's no more privacy in Gnutella as a technology than there is in BitTorrent. It's all just what the industry is focusing on.

Private trackers are your friend.

Torrents don't get you sued, being an idiot gets you sued.

I switch between torrents and usenet.

Agreed! I have a 4.5 TB upload at couple private trackers, have not had a single issue.

You are not anymore secure via Gnutella, torrents etc, they all have your IP, most private trackers are overseas in countries that don't give a darn about sharing, aka Sweden where they don't just willy nilly hand crap over to the USA as there demand for Info on who is using..

I have a direct OC-3 connection for about 45 hours out of the week, really speeds up the uploads :)

There's not much to pirate really. I have all the songs I want, good movies hardly ever come out, and there's Netflix anyways. Also most games are on Steam now.

Author:  Lenas [ Tue May 10, 2011 4:22 pm ]
Post subject:

Oh, there's plenty. New music comes out every day, what makes a "good" movie is subjective, Netflix has a horribly long release schedule and the fact that a game is on Steam has nothing to do with whether or not people want to pay for them. Not to mention console games.

It takes so much effort to find good music that I don't even bother. (effort as in identifying the songs in the first place)

I'm not aware of any actually good games that you can pirate.

If it has a single player component, and is on PC, you can get a copy of it online.

But then I can't play multi-player...

There's just something very 2005 about pirating games.

I can download and play any game on PC, 360, PS3 or Wii with VERY few exceptions. I can also play them online, with the exception of PS3 at the moment. Are you saying there are no good games in existence? I think your comments stem from your lack of ability or education on the matter, rather than the lack of content.

Can you actually play these games online on PC without buying them? Or do all of the good games happen to be the "exceptions".

Crysis 2
Minecraft
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Portal 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Starcraft 2...

Post subject:

All of them on PC? Maybe not. Notice I said "or". However, since I have PC, 360 and PS3 (and Wii, but **** that) at my disposal, yes, I can play them all online with the exception of Minecraft which I've never looked into. Starcraft 2, I'm not sure of, because I bought it and never played again after the first mission.

I don't know how it works with consoles... I would never buy 4 year old technology. I'd buy new consoles if they came out.

With rare exceptions I generally don't do multiplayer games, at all. Single player RPGs are everything.

Bump. Can someone dumb this down for me. Which private trackers does one use? What replaced OiNK?

I just would like to download some music to put on my ipod with as little hassle as possible. I'd buy it from Itunes but they dont offer what I'm looking for apparently.

Demonoid and IP Torrents are my choices. Demonoid is actually much better for music and books. You can find almost anything there. IP Torrents is faster by far, but if it's not mainstream, you'll have a harder time finding it there.

Oh shoot Demonoid, I totally forgot about that one thank you Taly.
