Grahh!! Need somewhere to scream while still in the office, Outsourcing needs to eat a bag of die! So sick of all this outsourcing crap, lets send jobs to India...Grarrr!! Great way to start a day after Memorial day, first meeting of the day, sorry to inform you but those of you on the line (approximate 200 of us give or take) are being outsourced to IBM, and we get to train the replacments, last day is 10/1. We get interviews with IBM to see if keeping us, I think they will probably keep most of us, no idea if I can stay in Michigan or will require a move to illinois. All this outsourcing crap needs to stop, in 4 years, we have outsourced at least 25,000+ jobs...Most to india... *sighs* Time to update the old resume, longest job I have ever have has been here, loved it and learned more here than any other job have ever worked... Im scarred whats going to happen to come 11/1.... |

Kashan, having been outsourced both to India and then to IBM in the past myself... IBM was willing to give all of us interviews way back then, and they kept all of those who applied with them. The people who stayed with IBM really did enjoy themselves and the positions that they were given. I do not know if this helps any. Stay strong! |

Thanks guys. Appreciate it Darksiege, I have a couple of IBM guys that work in the cube next to me and seem very happy. My biggest issue, the company has us 'acknowledge' this competition clause to not have everything with 1 vendor, now IBM is supporting every single piece of equipment, that irks me, I enjoy and like competition. |

Outsourced and offshored because there is a difference. Outsourced just means a contractor is doing it. |

I was outsourced to IBM at one time, ended up leaving because of differences of opinion on the direction of my career. What was interesting was I immediately took a position as a consultant for IBM in what turned out to the the best job I ever had. My take on things is, things work out for the best when I follow my own career direction and not so good when others try to direct it. Outsourcing is one of the ways others try to direct my career and I'm better off leaving if that kind of stuff comes up. |

I've been trying to convince my boss to bring some of our jobs back from India. Their work sucks and it's not worth his money paying me to fix their problems. |

I agree 100% with you Lenas, we originally outsourced In state to a US company our level 1 help desk, they were 100% times better than our current Help Desk in india, after that contracted ended we actually picked up Several people from TechTeam. There contracted ended then we outsourced to India. Get a Puerto Rico store and India on the line and just doesnt work, I dont know how many tickets I get where XX is problem, but the problem is really YY, all they had to do was VNC in and look at the error message and cannot even do that. Its really damn annoying. The IBM packaged offered to us, 7-8 positions available for my team of 24, no loss of Seniority, Lateral Move on pay, better Benefits and can work from home everyday! So doesnt sound to bad, just got out do the other 15 or so folks! |
