So, I mistakenly thought there may have been a chance that I could have possibly acquired tickets to the Winter Classic in Philly. For those who don't know, the Winter Classic is a fairly new idea from the NHL where they play a game at an outdoor venue on New Years Day. This year is going to be Flyers/Rangers and I was hoping there would be some sort of sale of the tickets where I could have had a chance to get tix. Turns out since it's a league event, the NHL doles out the tix to the various entities involved (Phillies, Flyers, Rangers, Citizens Bank, etc) and there will be no public offering. So the only way I'm going to get tix is likely to pay an incredibly exorbinant price through a reseller. I don't know that I'd want to pay a super-premium price for it, anyway; definitely not my style. Honestly, I have never tried to acquire tix to an event of such magnitude, so I just wasn't ready for the difficulty. |

Super lame that they're not selling tickets to people. |

Is a cool thing to do though. The outdoor game, I mean, not the not selling to the public. |

Wow, that sucks. I've seen those games and the big deal they make out of them, didn't realize the audience was handpicked, so to speak. |

Foamy, They're already selling for $500+ online.....they should hit well over $1000 by game time I'm sure. I'm in the same boat. |

I heard Al Morganti is having trouble getting tickets. If a hockey analyst/philadelphia personality is having trouble, I guess there is no hope for the common man. What is the point of having such events if the local/loyal fans can't have a fair chance at tickets? |

because it's all about the money and corporate america...they don't give a crap about the fans....although the Phils, Ran gers, Flyers fans with season tix get first crack....so technically they are giving local/loyal fans first crack. |

Yeah, I guess that's true. But where does that leave the fans who support the team, not by season ticket purchases, but through watching the broadcasts thus ensuring the advertising revenues. I honestly feel like I am not an important factor because I don't regularly purchase tickets. I got that same feeling when talking to one of the Flyers reps when trying to find out about these tickets. |
