I also live close to the 5, and was wondering if it was up in the Grapevine (an area the 5 passes through before hitting the Central Valley.

But then I remember that I had heard something about ridiculous weather up in the Northwest. Good luck with that!

Had to take a rubber mallet to carefully break the quarter to half inch of ice on my car this morning. Fortunately the highways and arterials were well plowed, salted and sanded, but the short run down the hill from my house was more fun than I would have wanted.

I once broke the head off my scraper after work once doing the same thing without the mallet...

I've broken quite a few scrapers in my time doing the same thing. Definitely don't miss it.

Now that the thaw has hit...this is most broken trees I've seen in quite a little while. The flora around here sure aren't used to ice storms.
