It started with me wanting to spend my money to purchase a replacement and ended with me getting a set for free; but should I rant or rave? I purchased a set of dishes for my boat from West Marine. One of the bowls was broken. No big deal really. The paperwork in the box stated to contact Pfaltzgraff at a 1-800 number to order replacements. I would have to pay to ship the broken bowl to them, and would then pay 1/2 price for the replacement. So I called Pfaltzgraff. Waited 45 minutes on hold then spoke to a representative. She stated 1) I could not buy a replacement because I had not purchased the set from them, and 2) the item I wanted was not available. Ok..... I have in writing from the company to call them for replacements. Also I see that the item I want is available on line directly from them. So I calmly call her on those facts. Then I calmly insist on speaking to a supervisor because I wanted to tell the supervisor I was going to report their company to the state for fraud. Now I have a code and an e-mail from them stating they would send me a free place setting. So I saved money. But this makes no freaking sense. Why did I have to do this to get a company to do what they put in writing they will do? |

We had a similar problem at christmas. My mother ordered a set of dishes from Pfaltzgraff -when she received the dish set 2 of 4 had broken mugs...in sealed packages.... but worse the mugs had been glued back together (and very badly at that) and sold as new. |

Pfaltzgraff seems to use a lot of shady/stupid/weird distributors. I ordered an out of print (if that is the right term) style of dishes from them and when they arrived one of the pieces was broken. I called them and they shipped me a replacement at no cost...for the entire set so I ended up with double the number of dishes -1 bowl. |

The problem here is that Pfaltzgraff makes pretty much the best tableware on the planet ...x1000 When I worked retail people would constantly be returning other dish ware sets after they broke in a month or two, or the finish chipped/peeled off, etc. Never once in the two years I was there did anyone ever bring back anything from Pfaltzgraff. |

Looking up reviews I see either 5 stars or 1 star. Seems that most of their stuff is good, but sometimes they make a very fragile set. My complaint isn't the quality of the merchandise, it's the quality of the customer service. Heh, maybe they contract that out. |
