Seriously all of the assholes in my school district who just passed a 4.99 mil increase can die and burn in hell. An extra $500 per 100k of property value??? In other words a 33% jump in taxes for homeowners in the city. Oh and the best part? The reason for the levy is because the school district has a $9M budget shortfall. Why? Because Barack Obama promised stimulus money to Ohio for education and then couldn't back it up but the school district already spent it. So a one-time windfall of $9M that didn't pan out resulted in a permanent bump to the school budgets that I have to pay for for God-only-knows how long. I don't want to live on this planet anymore. |

Ohio's love affair with school levies is evil. My only consolation is they frequently don't pass. It's a mixed blessing, because then they just crop up again like clockwork 6 months later. School boards are nothing if not persistent in the face of failure. |

depends on how you feel about buses, libraries, music & art programs, and PE I suppose. My soon-to-be-stepson's school district cut all of those after trying for 4 years to get a millage passed. |

There's no reason that levies should be so frequently needed by the school districts in Ohio. They just rely on threats to cut programs on one hand and of teacher's strikes on the other to get the community to eventually agree. What's needed is a ban on strikes by teacher's unions. |

In many cities and towns in Rhode Island, the school committee is chartered with the task of setting budgets and coordinating spending outside the purview of their respective town counsils. We see this sort of **** on a regular basis as a result. |
