Not sure where else to put this, so I'll just stick it here. I recently sold my Springfield XD40 and went with a Sig P226 chambered .40 because I love the ergos so much on my P226 9x19. While I was dinking around in the shop, I was looking at ammo. I have always loaded a mag with Rem 165gr Golden Saber JHP as my "storage" self defense mag. However, I was looking at the Speer Gold Dot 165gr and 180gr boxes. I did a little research and it seems to be the consensus among people who have done ballistics testing that the 180gr loads decrease chance of overpenetration and don't "over expand" (not sure of the actual term, here) leading to a better cavity and ultimately, more reliable stopping power. Does anyone else load 180gr JHP for .40 Smith? Would it be advisable to rely on this as a man-stopper load?

I don't belong to any gun forums (nor do I really want to) but I figure there's enough people here who might know something about this.
