So almost a full three years since my identity theft, I have just this weekend, finally unlocked my credit reports with the three credit bureaus. Oonagh and I are refinancing the house and it has become a necessity to unlock my reports. Even though there is still a Fraud alert with the the bureaus in effect for four more years, I am still afraid. The bastard was never caught. Owing to the nature of the crime, I can take a little solace in the fact that he probably moved one mere days after finding my credit locked from his rampage, though I can't be sure. Hopefully, he tossed my information and the ID he made up way back then and I can breathe easy. The damage he did has long since been repaired, but I wouldn't want to even begin to think about going through all of that paperwork and phonecall nonsense again. |

I hope it all goes well for you. It's really too bad this bastard wasn't caught and you didn't have a chance to go a few rounds with him in a locked room. Credit information is traded by lots of hundred or thousands so you can probably rest safely. As soon as they use it once or twice, they move on quickly to another. |
