The more appropriate term these days is Global Climate Change, which for once is a bit more accurate.

Of course it is. Nonspecific causality is always more accurate when specific causality is wrong.

When I went to grad school in New York (state not city) it snowed on July 4th.

There is a reason I live on the south coast.
