How singularly appropriate for this board!

I like Obama, but I'll take "effective" over "personable".

I'd swap Clinton for Obama. Especially if a Republican Congress/Senate came with the trade.

Yeah. He seems like an okay guy, Just really disagree with his view of the country and the vision for the future.

By the same token I don't think he's "stupid" either. He just believes what he's been told by his peers and mentors all his life. That might qualify as ignorant but not unintelligent.

I think he's one of the best Presidents that we've had in my lifetime.

While there are some things that I disagree with from a vision standpoint, I believe it's directionally correct and measured.

My opinion is that with the supermajority and all the leash he was given, his accomplishments are very small vs his stated ambitions. Also the poll numbers disagree with you, since it seems folks like Obama as a person but dislike his policies.

I hope you're only in youre early 20s then. Not only do I feel his vision is flawed, I feel that his pursuit of it demonstrates either a lack of understanding of the country, a lack of understanding the office of the president and how to represent the country, or a purpouseful desire to push the agenda of a small minority. Truly it's what he is best at, and is one of the few things he's accomplished in his life- stirring the pot and placing blame. Awesome gambit by the Democrats to use him, but the informational response by Obamas opposition is the perfect defense. If you want to piss off a Conservative- lie. If you want to piss off a Liberal- tell the truth.

I really don't know how you see the polls disagreeing with me...

Hardly. You're just downwind of the pile this time.

You called him effective over personable. I say he's more personable then effective. The polls say he's better liked than his policies. I say Obama had a once in a political lifetime shot to sign off on a wishlist for his supporters and couldn't seal the deal. I say that makes him more personable than effective.

You read my statement wrong. The "but" was there for a reason.

I think the poll shows folks like him but don't think he has the affect ... the change that was promised...that for which he was elected... as well.

Someone should tell Glenn Beck's audience this.

Alternatively, you could go read Conservapedia for about five minutes. Did you know E=MC^2 is a liberal plot to get humanity to discard Jesus in favor of relativity?

I usually assume the poster is kidding when such broad brushes are being used on an assumed group. Beck is an entertainer who rides the crest of populist thinking. So to be honest, if he's going on about it, more than likely it's the direction his considerable audience is going. People make the mistake that Beck is leading, I think he is just following very close to the front.

On a related note. Conservative does not equate to religious. Just like religious does not guarentee conservative. I really despise that false parrallel.

Saying Conservapedia is a representative sample of all conservatives, or even all religious conservatives, is like saying PETA is a representative sample of all liberals. Conservapedia is three brain cells away from the Westboro Baptist Church.

I notice you didn't say if that's plus 3 or minus 3.

Xeq - just because it uses the word "Conservative" or rather, part of it, in its name doesn't mean it's representative of Conservatives. That's like Coro's example of viewing PETA as representative of all liberals, or even better, like viewing the Muslim Brotherhood as representative of muslims just because it uses the word muslim in its name.

Heheh, DE, you mean everyone in Ulster doesn't adhere to the tenets of the Ulster Defence Association?

Really? You honestly believe that conservatives hold some kind of corner market on appreciation of "the truth"?

Not in the least. I don't, however, think that such an off-the-cuff snark-oriented comment comes even close to representing the biggest pile of bullshit posted here in some time. Representing it as a serious position, clearly indefensible as it is, comes a lot closer.
