Getting back to the original question, Russia would claim the debt as spoils of war and cost reimbursement, thus they would insist we now owe them the money.
We would say no, we don't. You destroyed our bondholder, it would be bad precedence to let a war victor assume outstanding debt.
We would them support the Chinese government in exile, charging them huge write-offs on the debt.
At least, that is the way I would write this fictional episode.
