No commentary from me; just curious what the Glade take is on Huntsman.

No idea what you're talking about.

Nothing specific; I just mean general opinions of him as a candidate for President. All the political buzz tends to be about Perry, Romney, Bachman and Paul, while Huntsman typically gets mentioned (if at all) only as an afterthought because of his low poll numbers.

I didn't even know there was a candidate by that name. To be perfectly honest I'm paying no attention whatsoever at this point; maybe in a few months. I probably should look at him though, since Bachman, Romney, and Paul are not options as far as I'm concerned and that doesn't leave me a whole lot more choices.

The media loves to think that Huntsman is some kind of protest candidate, but he's really just a purely establishment "centrist" candidate. The reason the media takes him more seriously than, say, Paul is that he lets them feel like they're participating in a protest of the status quo without actually challenging their orthodoxy.

A pretty good critique:

Why the Press Loves Jon Huntsman but Ignores Ron Paul.

Personally, I have about as much regard for Huntsman's platform as I do for any of the "viable" candidates' on the field.

I like what he has to say, but he's saying what he thinks I want to hear. Therefore he's not the principaled conservative that the Republicans need to nominate.

2 cans of bug spray, forming a small white foamy mess around it. Then if there's even a hint of movement... Smack it with a big paper back!

I don't know enough about Huntsman to say he's a bad guy. By all accounts he's the furthest left (comparitively) candidate. Take from that what you will but consider the following.

Four years ago we the Republicans went with the furthest left, most bipartisan, open, business as usual, what have you candidate we could find. He was trounced, soundly, and I know several people only voted for him because of his running mate balancing out the ticket. I would contest that the debate in the country has moved further right since then. I don't understand why we would want to make the same mistake twice. While I believe the anyone but Obama crowd may be significant enough for Huntsman to win, vs. Obama he will only hurt the cause of conservatism further down the road, possibly leading to another 2006 in 2014.

This is the most awesome mis-thread I've seen all month.
