Seeing as how it's rather obvious you don't ...

Please demonstrate that in the absence of piracy, the demand for whatever piece of digital media you want to use as an example exceeds available supply.

Perhaps my argument is not clear. It is not about exceeding supply, it is about exceeding the equilibrium price. Demand for a marketable good always exceeds the equilibrium price.

In addition I don't have a problem with people downloading free-content per se. As a consumer if you can get the exact same good for less price (or in this case for free) than a rational person will do so (which is the primary law of economics, consumers and suppliers are rational). The theft (my word) is by the illegal distributors who I consider the pirates.

Are the consumers stealing too? Yes, but to me it is the equivalent of parking on the street without feeding the meter if you know the police don't ticket in the area.

Most of Ron Paul's supporters have no other connection to the Republican party. That's why everyone keeps making such a big deal about whether he'll run on a Libertarian ticket. Ron Paul brought in a huge mob of people who voted for him in the 2008 Republican Primary, and the Republican party wants to know if they can be used to turn the tide against Obama.

The answer is: Only if Paul gets the nomination. We're not voting for those other clowns. I, personally, am not voting for some fool who I don't want as president. I tried that in 2004, and it didn't even work. I'm not making that mistake again.

Mmm, no. I cannot in good conscience vote for any of the remaining Republicans but Paul.

Yup. Ron Paul has enough for me to like to offset the crazy. Can't say the same for the others.

I don't think this is accurate. I'll give you some but not most. I, for example, will vote for the republican if Paul doesn't get the nod. Unless it's Santorum.

I actually agree with Coro's view. Seems to me that most Paul supporters are young people like myself that usually vote Democrat. Farskee seems to be on the same page as well.

I'd say about 20% of current Paul supporters would be ex Democrats. The bulk is made up by normal Republicans 60% and independent, non party, libertarians 20%.

Since we are in the petitioning season and I've been had my head in SQL pulling out lists of supporters by CD and County I get a good feel for those who aren't yet registered Republican and what they are currently registered.

At least insofar as Pa goes.

If Paul isn't the nominee, I'm voting Obama.

Ron Paul being the nominee is the only circumstance I can think of that would cause me to vote for Obama.

Ron Paul's support stems from a general disillusionment with U.S. politics. Red and Blue are the problem.

Unfortunately it has to be enough of a problem that people will forsake red and blue both to fix it. Again sadly we aren't there yet.

In recent history an outsider only seems to succeed in dividing the red or the blue.

That's Red's problem this election cycle, not mine.

Yeah. We need a couple more Ross Perot moments before people start to wake up and realize things. However I'm not completely convinced that subbing anyone running on the Red side for Obama doesn't result in at least a slight shift that will keep all four tires on the road as opposed to going off the cliff.

I think it's great we got Democratic leaners lining up to primary republican for Paul. I'm hoping if he doesnt win, that at least he gets enough votes to change the conversation.
