Except, the first part is complete true and has been for a very long time. Incidentally, populists don't end up in government. But our media has down a fantastic job of politically and socially marginalizing constitutionalist, fiscal conservatives and small-government politics. But, you know, Obama certainly closed down Gitmo; an opposition plurality in the House certainly prevented the Affordable Care Act from being passed as a budget Amendment to a law already in place and voted for during the Shrub's Administration. So, there's no false dilemma ...
Our government continues to consolidate power and use the Fourth Estate as a Fifth Column in the suppression of opposition language, ideas, and action. Replacing legislators and executives has no impact on American governance, primarily because the ruling class has made itself a ruling class. The Parties determine who is eligible for President now, not the Constitution. Solicitors later named to the Supreme Court can now RULE on their own arguments. You can thank Obama for that. Congress can now authorize military action against American citizens on American soil. You can thank Obama for that. Our government will continue to consolidate power, wealth, and force while it diminishes the rights and freedoms of its citizenry. Shrub was no better; Clintonius Rex was no better; Reagan was on better. We speak of presidents because they mark eras of governance, and, yet, government power and the imperial presidency continue to grow.
