I was musing this morning on the way that we view news these days. By in large, we get our news from the web these days. Occasionally some of us might listen to radio or watch TV, but most our content seems to come from the web.

Since many of these news sources are attempting to generate more 'clicks' they study people's browsing habits either in aggregate or more recently, individually, and promote stories related to the things we've already shown an interest in.(and potentially even just stories that already agree with our established point of view) It stands to reason that our 'news' will also create another type of selection bias.

Does anyone know of any studies on the subject?

There's been a lot of discussion of this in the news. Or, at least there is in my echo chamber.

I'm guessing your google read is very fast. Unless you meant news.google.com.
