My mother is always complaining about her myriad accounts and passwords, how she can never remember them, and how she never has access to her password Word doc when she needs it (and it's never kept up-to-date anyway).

Sunday I tried setting her up with a Dropbox/KeePass combo to give her easy, up-to-access to her login records from her laptop, iPhone, iPad, etc. I...don't think it went well -_-. I use KeePass all the time to simplify my life, but apparently it's more complicated than I think :/

I got my mom to use Truecrypt with her password list in a text file. It used to be an excel spreadsheet named "passwords".

These kinds of comments are exactly what make everyone else feel like you look down your nose at them.

According to mine, it was so she could move in with me when she was old and raise my kids. I'm okay with that, as long as she instills the same idea into my first born.

I'm suprised so many of you look at your parents and your finances are 2 seperate entities. I guess it helps being an only child, but as far as I'm concerned, my parents and my finances are the same thing. If moving home is the best financial decision for everyone, then moving home it is... which I have just recently done, due to financial reasons.

My finances are my own and my mom's financial problems are her own. This is part of independence.

My parents died when I was young. Not an issue for me.

Depends on what you view as independence really. Not saying it’s the right thing to do, or even an easy thing to do, cultural differences and all… but just another way of looking at financial responsibilities.

The only good thing to come out of not living with my parents, would be the physical independence. Even then, it’s only a matter of time before my mother finds a way to get a copy of my key.

My parents are dead too. We should start our own thread...bring the beer, I'll bring the peanuts.

My only thought about this thread is that, when parents are gone, these kind of issues become really petty and trivial.

If people want to get butthurt over opinions-expressed-as-reality, anyone who reads this board is going to have sphincter problems.

(But that's just my opinion.)
