Was wondering when the regular "this poll/question/sandwich/cup/printer/animal/etc. is flawed" would start up. Was expecting Elmo, Taly, or Khross, to be honest.

On this board? He's a jackbooted fascist.

Amidst other company, he might be considered reasonable. Though, I weep for the population that balances that sample out and makes him look average.

That population would be pretty much everyone, seeing as I fall in the middle of the scale. I'm exceedingly reasonable. This board just has an overwhelming libertarian leaning.

I have issues with several of the questions. Their FAQ covers my issues. I don't agree with it, but I see where they are coming from.

Anyway, I decided I would no longer partially agree or disagree in a halfassed manner.

For something different, I'll break down my answers:

Spoiler:
If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.
Strongly disagree ~ the question implies that there is some homogenized group known as "humanity" that is not only worth serving, but somehow at odds with these big corporations. You can't even really separate them. I'm not the biggest fan of the corporate structure, but the implication in the question is ridiculous.

I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong.
**** not.

No one chooses his or her country of birth, so it's foolish to be proud of it.
Strongly agree.

Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races.
 Please, no.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Strongly Disagree. The enemy of my enemy MAY be my friend. He is, more likely, just another flavor of bastard like my enemy.

Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified.
Strongly agree. I barely recognize the legitimacy of my own country's laws. Why would I recognize some nebulous "international law" by a bunch of people I have nothing in common with?

There is now a worrying fusion of information and entertainment.
Strongly disagree. Worrying? If it wasn't entertaining, nobody would have any information at all.

People are ultimately divided more by class than by nationality.
Strongly disagree. Language and culture are bigger divisive factors.

Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment.
Strongly disagree. The question assumes that we should control the economy. Planned economies suck.

Because corporations cannot be trusted to voluntarily protect the environment, they require regulation.
Strongly disagree. People can't be trusted, period. Corporations don't need special regulation in this regard that the general populace do not. A certain act is either legal or illegal, regardless of whether done by a corporation or an individual.

"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a fundamentally good idea.
Strongly disagree. I think the 20th century proved without question how unworkable this concept is in our era.

It's a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking water is now a bottled, branded consumer product.
Strongly disagree. It may be a sad reflection on the state of the consumer that they continue to buy it, however. TAP WATER IS CLEANER.

Land shouldn't be a commodity to be bought and sold.
Strongly disagree.

It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society.
Strongly disagree. Really? You're going to get all jealous and butthurt that someone made money in a way you, personally, don't consider productive? Worry about your own wealth. It's not a zero-sum game. Their riches takes nothing away from what you have.

Protectionism is sometimes necessary in trade.
Strongly disagree. Really, no. Open borders, open trade.

The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.
I'm really not sure how that is a "social responsibility" at all. It's a fiscal responsibility. I'm fairly sure they have no "social responsibilities" whatsoever.

The rich are too highly taxed.
Strongly agree. With the exception of the slackers on the bottom end of the income pool, pretty much everyone is too highly taxed, and the rich are taxed most of all.

Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care.
Strongly agree with a caveat: Some medical options are untested or nonstandard, and should not yet be covered by any type of universal health insurance. However, feel free to pay for them yourself.

Governments should penalise businesses that mislead the public.
Strongly disagree. Government misleads the public more than businesses do, I'm not all that fond of the whole pot/kettle issue this raises. The people, however, should penalize businesses that mislead the public. (Which includes bringing civil lawsuits. I'm separating this from "government," since government implies legislation and executive action, which this is not. The people bring the lawsuits, the people sit on the jury that determines culpability, and the people decide the punishment. Government only provides the structure to make this possible, and enforces the result.)

A genuine free market requires restrictions on the ability of predator multinationals to create monopolies.
Strongly disagree. There is nothing free about the market when it is controlled by a monopoly.

The freer the market, the freer the people.
Strongly agree.

Abortion, when the woman's life is not threatened, should always be illegal.
Strongly disagree.

All authority should be questioned.
Strongly agree. All authority should be put to the question, challenged to justify its existence, and frequently disposed of.

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
Strongly disagree. Not all situations are equal, not all situations merit retribution.

Taxpayers should not be expected to prop up any theatres or museums that cannot survive on a commercial basis.
Strongly agree. This is not a cultural pitfall. Anything worth keeping will survive anyway.

Schools should not make classroom attendance compulsory.
Strongly agree. So long as an education is being received up to standard, it shouldn't matter how it is acquired.

All people have their rights, but it is better for all of us that different sorts of people should keep to their own kind.
Are there actually morons who agree with this type of statement still in existence today?

Good parents sometimes have to spank their children.
Strongly disagree. I am a proponent of corporal punishment, but I am not so arrogant as to assume there's only one effective way to do things.

It's natural for children to keep some secrets from their parents.
Strongly agree. Anyone who thinks this isn't natural doesn't remember being a kid.

Possessing marijuana for personal use should not be a criminal offence.
Strongly agree. It really shouldn't be regulated at all.

The prime function of schooling should be to equip the future generation to find jobs.
Strongly disagree. The prime function of education is to provide a foundational knowledge to function within society and teach critical thinking ability so additional information can be acquired as needed/desired.

People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce.
Strongly disagree. Natural selection will take care of that just fine.

The most important thing for children to learn is to accept discipline.
Strongly disagree. What a bunch of authoritarian claptrap.

There are no savage and civilised peoples; there are only different cultures.
Strongly disagree. If your culture believes raping young girls cures AIDS, it's **** savage.

Those who are able to work, and refuse the opportunity, should not expect society's support.
Strongly agree.

When you are troubled, it's better not to think about it, but to keep busy with more cheerful things.
Strongly disagree. I know ostriches don't really stick their heads in the sand, but it's a powerful metaphor.

First-generation immigrants can never be fully integrated within their new country.
Strongly disagree. Language is the biggest barrier. Get past that, and you're golden.

What's good for the most successful corporations is always, ultimately, good for all of us.
Strongly agree. However, corporations don't always know what's good for them. (See Intellectual Property law.)

No broadcasting institution, however independent its content, should receive public funding.
Strongly agree. Okay, no, I'm completely torn on this. I can see both sides. but "I'm not sure" isn't an answer, and I think Agree/Disagree should be the only choices on the page.

Our civil liberties are being excessively curbed in the name of counter-terrorism.
Strongly agree.

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
Strongly disagree. Ideally, even a one party state will have discussion and debate to help make the big decisions. One person can not reliably make autocratic decisions by fiat that will work well.

Although the electronic age makes official surveillance easier, only wrongdoers need to be worried.
Strongly disagree.

The death penalty should be an option for the most serious crimes.
Strongly disagree. I do not trust government with the power to kill its own citizens.

In a civilised society, one must always have people above to be obeyed and people below to be commanded.
Strongly disagree. Obey this, you **** 'tards.

Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.
Strongly disagree. All art is subjective in nature, a matter of personal opinion. Just making something aestheticly pleasing is an art.

In criminal justice, punishment should be more important than rehabilitation.
Strongly disagree. Deterrence and keeping society safe is the goal. "Punishment" or "Rehabilitation" only matter so far as they factor into that.

It is a waste of time to try to rehabilitate some criminals.
Strongly disagree. Since you cannot know in advance who can be rehabilitated, no. You try, you either succeed or fail. The failures aren't a waste of time, because without them you don't have the successes, either.

The businessperson and the manufacturer are more important than the writer and the artist.
Strongly disagree. The hand or the foot are not more important than the mind or the heart.

Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers.
Strongly disagree, along with a brick to the back of some *******'s head.

Multinational companies are unethically exploiting the plant genetic resources of developing countries.
Strongly disagree. This doesn't even make grammatical sense.

Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity.
Strongly disagree. Making peace with the establishment is a sign that you're gullible.

Astrology accurately explains many things.
Strongly disagree. Astrology only accurately explains which idiots are gullible enough to believe Astrology.

You cannot be moral without being religious.
Strongly disagree. In fact, if you need an invisible sky bully rewarding or punishing you for your actions in order to be good, your morality is inherently worthless.

Charity is better than social security as a means of helping the genuinely disadvantaged.
Strongly agree.

Some people are naturally unlucky.
Strongly agree. I'm not superstitious, but random chance affects our place in life just as much as anything we can control. Almost half the people are going to go through life getting lower than the median dice rolls at the game of life. That's just math.

It is important that my child's school instills religious values.
Strongly disagree. If my child's school instills religious values, they're fired.

Sex outside marriage is usually immoral.
Strongly disagree. Your mom is usually immoral.

A same sex couple in a stable, loving relationship, should not be excluded from the possibility of child adoption.
Strongly agree.

Pornography, depicting consenting adults, should be legal for the adult population.
Strongly agree.

What goes on in a private bedroom between consenting adults is no business of the state.
Strongly agree.

No one can feel naturally homosexual.
Strongly disagree.

These days openness about sex has gone too far.
Strongly disagree.

That puts me...

What does this have to do with politics?

Also, Again there are several statements that I strongly agree with that have little to do with political possitioning.

A couple of the religious ones probably skew you towards authoritarian even if you don't believe government should get involved in sexual morality.

I can't speak to the astrology one, but the 'naturally unlucky' question ties in with the social safety net leaning. Feeling that people are naturally unlucky means that you believe hard work, dedication, etc. is no guarantee of even survival-level success. My best guess, anyway.
