So... the Ashley Madison hack...

On the one hand, releasing people's info, leaving them open for identify theft and fraud, is bad.

On the other... my ex-husband's info was released (he had confessed to an acct way back when, so I did a quick check by email address, which just tells you if it has an associated profile). The schadenfreude is strong...

However, I gave him a heads up to watch for fraud, as financial issues could impact my daughter.

I don't recall the URL - it was linked in a news article.

Found the article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/20/techn ... .html?_r=0

The links to the search tools are in the section called, "How could I check who had an account?"

Edit - this is a completely legitimate site and shows not only exposure to Ashley Madison but all recent large data hacks.

I'd say you've been a pretty big person about it and done the right thing. You already caught him at it, and the divorce is over so I think it speaks highly of you that you let him know.

Really depends on the tone in how she let him know. Big difference possible in the options there. Serienya was most likely relatively cool about it. I mean it was probably a very tasteful billboard outside where he works, no nudity or profanity.

Heh. My exact text was, "FYI, watch for identity theft. Your info was released in the Ashley Madison Hack."

His reply: "The credit card info should be outdated by now."

And that was it.

(Of course, if he thinks the CC number getting out was the worst of the possibilities...)

Every time I see this subject line.... my brain keeps going.

I'm all out of faith.
This is how I feel.
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor....

This is unforgivable. This thread must die.

Indeed. I hate how things can trigger a song getting stuck in your head. The worst is "it's a small world..."
