I have to admit, I never thought this would get THIS bad.

"Hey, our journalistic integrity standards have dropped so low that even **** James O'Keefe was able to do a piece on us without having to lie about anything. What should we do to get the public's trust back?"

"I know! Let's cover our front page with an article where we blackmail a 15-year old for making an animated GIF about us."

Well, after firing 3 senior staff for publishing a story that was total bullshit, and reporting on Elmo's* views on the refugee/immigration executive orders this was hardly surprising.

"Massive corporation threatens teenager" would be a story CNN and all its competitors would normally be slobbering over, but they've allowed themselves to believe that just because A) they're the media and B) they're opposing Trump that somehow behavior that would get any other major corporation in trouble is perfectly ok. Their excuse that this individual is "Racist" and "sexist" doesn't hold water either - they set out to discover his identity before they knew that.

If this were FOX News the rest of the press would be all over it. There is a fundamental problem with journalism in this country, and that is the belief that the First Amendment has conferred on them a status as an unelected fourth branch of government. In fact, freedom of the press belongs to everyone, not to professional journalists. It is not an entitlement to information, nor is it an immunity to the same criticism as any other corporation or public figure. Donald Trump is a noted uncouth and boorish vulgarian; he unleashed this on his opponents in the primary and general elections. It is not now an attack on democracy when he does it to the press. They are acting as if they are the high priests of democracy and their businesses are its temples and Trump is guilty of blasphemy. What Trump is guilty of is tweeting when he would be better advised not to. His poor behavior in no way excuses the pompous arrogance of journalists. They have been engaging in this bullshit for decades and its now coming home to roost.

*As in, the actual red muppet

I approve that he is the asterisk.

Hate to say it but those who have been paying attention have known about this **** for years.

If you think the NYT or any of the others are any better well, sorry to say you have no liferaft to flee to.
