Dodd gone - he's done his damage. Spoiler: What's with the Dems retiring and switching their D's for R's? Don't they know that the Republicans are finished and have no hope for decades to come? |

Good riddance. Even without being overly political in my high school years in CT, I knew he was a corrupt ****. |

I'm happy to see him leave. Apparently there is a very popular democrat that will run for his seat there when he's gone. |

Interesting that the theoretically liberal media is failing to report that more republicans than democrats are retiring among governors, the senate, and the house. |

Hmmm, I've read it in the WSJ, the Washington Post, Politico and Fox News - hell even Yahoo! news had this to say: Quote: That said, the GOP has troubles of its own, with even more Republicans than Democrats leaving Congress and governors mansions instead of running again. In the House, 14 Republicans and 10 Democrats are retiring, and Robert Wexler, a Florida Democrat, has resigned, leaving one vacancy. In the Senate, six Republicans, including several in swing states requiring expensive campaigns, and four Democrats, including Dodd and Dorgan, aren't running. Among governors, four Republicans who can seek re-election are opting not to while the same can be said for three Democrats, including Ritter. Perhaps it's just strange that the Democrat meme, so loudly shouted from the rooftops, I think I even heard it here (nah, no one here would say such a thing), that the Republicans were going to be out of power for decades is now sounding so resoundingly hollow after only a year into their "generational control". |

So 41 of the 585 dicks are retiring. Not nearly enough. |

I heard somebody suggest on the radio today that a lot of Democrats are realizing the party is being taken over by radicals and they don't want to be associated with it. Interesting theory, but not sure if I agree with it. |

If this forum is representative of US domestic sentiment it would seem US politics in general is being taken over by fundamentalists, if not radicals. It seems unbelievably polarized to me -for how long can a country find peace and prosper with such hostility between such large portions of the populous? Long time, I suppose ... |

This forum isn't terribly representative of the U.S., and there's only one or two fundamentalists here. |

This forum is representative of people who give a ****, but not an even disbursement of leanings in terms of people who give a ****. The people who don't give a **** don't post in forums like this, they do something else to put their head in the sand. |

You can take me at my word and move on with the conversation, or you can force me to link it, feel stupid that you didn't believe me in the first place, and then continue the conversation. Which would you like it to be? By the way, there are more Republican governors than democrats retiring, and, IIRC, more Republican members of the house, as well. |

Reasoned debate requires evidence, as you so regularly demand of others. Monty wrote: There are six. I wouldn't feel stupid at all. I'd be thankful to have become more informed by seeing a sourced link that showed more knowledge. See, I like knowledge, regardless of the source. The source might be biased, but it might lead to more knowledge. See, knowledge is good, and important. You might want to look into it.
