As there is some measure of accusation regarding the prevalent philosophies of the population of this board, I became curious as to exactly what that makeup is. Please select that which matches closest to you.

What exactly is the difference between "Classic conservative, social conservative, fiscal conservative" and "Classic liberal, social conservative, fiscal conservative"?

The fiscal/social descriptors or fine, but wtf is a classic conservative vs a classic liberal?

Why is this a stupid test?

The whole political science departments at both of the schools I've gone to loved it.

I'm not sure I'm not inclined to agree with this as it applies to you (specifically), Lenas. We might have to quibble over the third category as it applies to your stated positions.

That said ...

There's no choice for realpolitik.

Nor is there an option for an Arafyscal conservative.

This poll is flawed.

Ok, we have talked about this before and I have even taken the "stupid test" and I still have no clue what my political label is. *shrug*

My true political leanings would be "myself or a family member as dictator", but that's unrealistic. Realistically, I have almost 0 say in how anything works politically. So I don't fall into any category. I'm just a spectator.

PM! Admittedly I had to do a quick Google and just went with what sounded right.

According to the political spectrum, I'm fiscally liberal, but only slightly. -1.5, -5.33
I'd prefer to say I'm:

Classical conservative, socially conservative, fiscally moderate.

I'm pretty sure my dot has moved over the years... but here's the result.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 1.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.13

Economic 6.50
Authoritarian 0.67

I didn't answer the poll, BTW. Needs an option for realpolitk

Picked the first option, but it's not really all that accurate. I'm more fiscally conservative than many think here, given my leftist approach to health care (motivated in part by my fiscal ideology - it saves money in the long run) and other topics.

Just for the record:

Economic Left/Right: -1.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.10

Very close to Gandhi, I see.

Vote changed accordingly,

Classical liberal, social liberal, fiscal liberal

I was going to say Fiscal Moderate, Lenas; you're not too keen on government spending in general, but do support it in some cases.

Seems you've got a pretty good handle on me.

So apparently I need to add another disclaimer of "I cannot enumerate all possibilities, here is a subset that fits into the 10 item limitation on polls".

Wow Lenas, you and I are about identical.

Personally, I would have left the 'classic liberal/conservative' labels off, and gone with:

Socially conservative, fiscally conservative
Socially conservative, fiscally moderate
Socially conservative, fiscally liberal
Socially moderate, fiscally conservative
Socially moderate, fiscally moderate
Socially moderate, fiscally liberal
Socially liberal, fiscally conservative
Socially liberal, fiscally moderate
Socially liberal, fiscally liberal

But that's just me.

I still don't understand the first descriptors :-D
