Quote: China says Google has "violated its written promise" and is "totally wrong" to stop censoring its Chinese language search engine and to blame Beijing for alleged hacker attacks. The comments came on Tuesday from an official in charge of the internet bureau of the State Council Information Office, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency. "Google has violated its written promise it made when entering the Chinese market by stopping filtering its searching service and blaming China in insinuation for alleged hacker attacks," said the official. "This is totally wrong. We're uncompromisingly opposed to the politicisation of commercial issues, and express our discontent and indignation to Google for its unreasonable accusations and conducts," the official added. Hours earlier Google said it had ended censorship of its Chinese-language search engine Google.cn and was redirecting mainland Chinese users to an uncensored site in Hong Kong. Google also said it intended to continue research and development work in China and to maintain a sales presence there. Google's lifting of censorship on Google.cn comes a little more than two months after the Mountain View, California-based company said it had been the victim of cyberattacks originating from China. The White House said it was disappointed that Google could not reach a deal with Beijing. "We are disappointed that Google and the Chinese government were unable to reach an agreement that would allow Google to continue operating its search services in China on its Google.cn website," National Security Council spokesman Mike Hammer said in a statement. I wonder if there will be arrests in their China office... |

I love how our response is "we're disappointed that Google is no longer humoring our rights-light trading partner." |

The irony is that their lack of rights is why they're kicking our asses. The Chinese government has basically turned China into Warren Buffett's Thriftville at the point of a gun. They're forced to work ridiculously hard in **** conditions while the government actively quashes any attempt for them to "waste" the money they're earning on quality-of-life improvements by doing things like suppressing the currency's value and passing a huge array of laws and restrictions to quash any and all importing. |

No. It's our own policy that is kicking our asses. |

Apparently Xequecal's been listening to the same Obama advisor CBS has; you know, the one who said the U.S. needed to shift to a top-down autocracy because it's more efficient and effective than a top down democracy like the Obama Administration is hamstrung with. |

another update on the issue... Quote: Google says its Hong Kong search engine, which has been handling web queries from mainland Chinese users since Monday, is coming under "intermittent censorship." Alan Davidson, Google's director of public policy, also said in written remarks submitted to a US congressional commission in Washington on Wednesday that new rules are needed to govern trade in the online world. Google on Monday stopped censoring its search engine in China, Google.cn, and began redirecting mainland Chinese users to its uncensored site in Hong Kong, Google.com.hk. Web users in China, however, have said some searches using politically sensitive keywords were still being censored and Davidson's remarks to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China appeared to confirm the reports. "We are well aware that the Chinese government can, at any time, block access to our services - indeed we have already seen intermittent censorship of certain search queries on both Google.com.hk and Google.com," Davidson said. On trade, the Google official said "governments need to develop a full set of new trade rules to address new trade barriers." "We should continue to look for effective ways to address unfair foreign trade barriers in the online world: to use trade agreements, trade tools, and trade diplomacy to promote the free flow of information on the internet," he said. I really don't believe a compromise can be reached at this point... I'm just waiting for the big "f you" from China by banning google... |

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of China can explain why it is so taboo to show exposed bone? I think WoW had a recent overhaul of Chinese versions of the game to accommodate this taboo. |

It is rude to those who have died... burrying is the only sure way they will go on to their next life. Leaving the corpse of your enemy un-earthed is probably as bad as raping than pissing on your enemy's body... Also they cracked down on mmos over there cause kids were getting too serious over there with it and not doing their homework... *shock horror* They call it "Internet addiction" and have clinics dedicated to cure kids of it. (btw their standard to match that is something like >6 hours a day on the internet) |

See "Nipplegate." And what, do no Chinese people play Forsaken? Basically, the Chinese government needs to stop being evil, and then people will like them a lot more. |
