What happened? I thought we had an agreement from WAY back that people would respect the religious threads of others. Is that agreement gone now? Why is it that some of you couldn't just hold your fingers and act at least semi-decent?

Don't hold your breath Bery! It seems some people just don't know when to quit! :(

It happened because some people are self centered jerks who insist on making everything about themselves. Even other peoples religious beliefs. They are the types of people who need their asses kicked.

Sadly some people can't stop themselves from shoving their religious view down other peoples threads. I stayed out of it for a reason... I have nothing good to say about Easter but can at least respect others peoples faith. Mostly they do the same.

I read the entire thread. Mods involved, but no mod warnings or even mod appeals to civility. Lenas said something not as a mod, big whoop-de-do. Is Talya still a mod here? If so, why? Given her junk in the thread, she has no business modding anything more volatile than a Girl Scout cookie forum.

No need, LK. It was not your fault.

Was anything reported? I mean, this isn't hellfire... I stayed mostly out of the thread overall and didn't see what had happened till after.

In any event, if nothing was reported, how can you expect the mods to mod? If things *were* reported, then, that's a different issue.

However, from my standpoint, I didn't see anything out of line really. Making an off color comment isn't really an infraction from my understanding. If it was, I would have been bannhammered into nonexistence years ago.

Additionally, I don't see this thread going anywhere good. We're all different people here, of different faiths, races, sexual orientations and whatnot... just like real life. There's no need to hate on one another cause someone makes an off color comment.

If it had been started in Hellfire you might have a point, but it was started in General, and the mods knew what was going on and did nothing.

Good for you that you didn't see anything wrong, but then it wasn't your thread nor was it about something precious and dear to you.

Let's see, there were multiple mods posting in the thread, it's not like it needed to be brought to their attention, but I see your point about moderator action without "reports". However, it was then moved without "reports", so the point is moot.

Whether or not things were infractions, I really wouldn't know as I haven't read the "infraction list".

As for the "There's no need to hate on one another cause someone makes an off color comment." How about there's no need to be an *** in a thread you really have no interest in other than to be an ***??

Nothing was reported. I try to interfere as little as possible, but I saw embers burning and decided to smother them before they turned into a fire. I moved the thread to Hellfire because it had taken a negative turn, and when requested, I locked it. I had hoped you would read my last post and send a PM if you had a contention, but oh well.

I also don't see this thread going anywhere constructive.

You started a thread with good intentions. It turned into something it wasn't meant to be, and I put a stop to it. That's all there is to it.

I requested the lock because moving a thread about a sensitive topic which was already becoming volitile to the only place on the board where people **** on each other as a matter of principle seems counter intuitive to the origional purpose of the thread.

Yeah, that was a brilliant move, taking it to Hellfire. I'd have raised a fuss about this much sooner but I only saw the thread in Hellfire a bit ago, so now I'm looking for answers. Why were people allowed to say such things in a thread that is in General when the mods are aware? If it had been a homosexual thread, would the mods have acted the same way? Laughing if I ever get a mod warning seems like the only proper response now, moderation by some here is a joke at best.

What do you do in real life when someone makes an inappropriate remark about something "precious and dear" to you?

A: Walk away and let whoever said it stew in their own ignorance
B: Say "Hey man, that wasn't cool. This is important to me"
C: Throw a whiny pissy ***** fest over perceived attacks and persecutions

I know what I do.

What things? Taly made a comment about Viagra, and Riov tried to derail about children accepting Christ.

Neither was out of bounds, or against the rules as far as I know. Both were perhaps lacking tact. As Lenas said, there were no reports on any posts. That's how the mods here work. you report, they mod. If there's no reports, they're hands off.

I embarrass the **** out of them by calling them out publicly to account for themselves and their actions, in an attemt to induce public shunning and shame. If they get physical over not being able to handle an intellectual beat down, I give them a physical one to match it.

Edit: Fortunatly the second is not something I've had to do in a long, long time.

Had I seen the comments before the thread was moved to Hellfire and locked, some variant of B. *edit* However, only the densest of idiots on this board would not know that the resurrection of Jesus is "precious and dear" to more than just me on this board. So I'd say some of the things said were deliberate insults, which I thought was unacceptable in General.

People pretty much know not to post such threads in General now because they always get derailed by people who can't stop themselves from shoving their religious view down other peoples threads.

So being deliberately insulting on religious grounds is now acceptable behavior in General?

Always has been Bery.

It's just to bad that self-proclaimed intelligent, open-minded people can't show a modicum of respect to others because, instead, they can hide behind their "internet persona" and show how "cool" and "alternative" they are.

Didn't someone suggest a "Religion" forum?

It may be worth a shot, if some specific ground-rules were set.

Dunno. I kinda think it's shows why I asked awhile back to be perma-banned. *shrug*

Hey, I stayed out of that thread :P

For the most part, so did most everyone else that's not as fanatically devout as Bery. I thought that, for the most part, the thread stayed on track far longer than most and was pretty respectful with the exception of the couple of comments I mentioned above. And even those were pretty damn mild.

Is your faith so brittle that it cannot survive a couple of inappropriate remarks? Do you discard the entire tablecloth for a couple of spots of gravy?

This feels like overreaction to me.
