Post subject:  Can the System be saved?

Can we affect a change away from international control, back to sovreighty for the nation and the states and a respect for individual rights while working within a system that has been corrupted into preventing exactly that from happening at every turn - or is it now time to consider enacting change in ways that are currently outside the system?

Claire Wolfe is easily one of my favorite thinkers. She has a brilliant quote which sums up where we are today from the standpoint of the individual citizen in relation to our government: "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards."

I think there's still time to work within the system to correct where things have gone wrong, but that time is getting shorter. the direction we're going needs to stall or start to change within the next 2 years. Stalling will only delay what can happen. If this course continues I believe that the change will come from outside the system within a decade.

humanity is circling the drain. I do not feel it can be saved within the system or outside the system.

The human race is in decline, this is the twilight and the dirge of the man.

You can't work within a system that is broken. That's like saying you ran out of gas, so you'll just hop back in your car and drive to the gas station. Good luck with that.

DS while I believe in general things are as bad as they've been in a good long while (perhaps even 600 years), humanity has been through far worse scrapes.

I think we could be looking at our last chance to fix the country, but then again I could be in denial.

Humanity will be ok, though. Until 2012 anyway, then we're ****!

I will agree that things have been worse; but, i genuinely think that humanity has been slowly circling the drain. And i beleieve it really started with the industrial revolution.

We have pushed the population to unsustainable levels; poisoned the earth. Look at how the world itself has begun to try and shrug off the virus that is humankind:
HIV/AIDS
the Ebola virus
more natural disasters
combine that with the seemingly common occurrence of homosexuality in recent decades...

Nature is trying to find a way to get the population back into controllable levels. But with our human ingenuity, we continue to resist. Sooner or later Earth will lay some smack down on a catastrophic level.

That line of reasoning would require the Earth/nature to have some sort of consciousness.

Elamrnieh, define system please.

i.e., the Solar System is in no great danger in spite of the sentience on Sol III, but it is doomed to destruction in 4 or 5 billion years, so the scientists say.

My computer system will most likely fail within ten years and need replacing.

Which system are we talking about?

Even with your explanation, in the OP, I am unsure which system we are working within that needs to be saved.
