Treat the gunshot, sue her civilly for some kind of fraud or something to recoup the expense of treatment. And don't touch the collarbone/rotator cuff. Give her a free sterilization procedure, though. |

Does she have insurance? What's her income level compared to the Federal Poverty line? Was she attempting to pay cash? All these things affect the price, and for $100 it's possible she could have received an MRI, depending upon those answers. |

DFK, if she had insurance she would not have shot herself in the arm to get an MRI...(so she says...lol) I know google research is iffy but what I saw was that an MRI to look at your shoulder cost around $700-$1250 (checked yahoo answers to get personal quotes). I also know that you have to have virtually zero income to get on Medicaid as an adult. Not to judge a book by its cover but my impression was that she made some money but probably too much to qualify for Medicaid and not enough to pay for an MRI. |

It doesn't sound like trying to pay for it herself has crossed her mind. Sounds like she expecting "someone else" to pay for it. "Pain" is always a difficult thing to deal with especially in an emergency room. You get too many people who come in for "pain" who are "Allegeric to all medications except that one that starts with V and works really well" She needs an MRI and I don't get why she thinks that should be provided for free. machines have to be maintained and techs need to be paid and yes most hospitals exist so their investors can see a return. If those investors didn't exist neither would most hospitals. |

I'd choose a .17 HMR over a .22 WMR in many situations. I can't think of one where I'd choose a .25 ACP. |

Well, when I go for my thyroid check my doctor usually charges me about $70 to $90 and my pills are $12.99, and I ahve no insurance at the moment. That includes (sometimes) a blood test. My doctor is very understanding about that, however, so I think he's giving me a special rate because he's fully aware of my bizarre situation right now. Also, sythroid is cheap. So in theory, it's possible to see a doctor and get a perscription for $100 or a hair over. |
