Iowa Tea Party posted this recently. Had anyone on the left done something like this during the last administration, the very same type of people would be calling for criminal investigations and demanding apologies. Apparently, when the President is not in their tribe, they don't have the same standards.

meh. I feel it's pretty minor, compared to a lot of stuff that was said about Bush, but so what.

It's the predominant public opinion these days.

A recent poll by Democracy Corps reports that 55% of likely voters think "socialist" is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama (33% say it describes Obama "very well," 22% say "well" ).

And, since "nazi" is an abbreviation for the German National Socialism party (1933–1945), it can be said there are some areas of similarities, definitionally.

Actually, a Social-Corporatist/Neo-Mercantilist label would be more apt for both President Bush and President Obama. However, due to the intentional dumbing down of America, which caused the lack of critical thinking skills necessary to accurately interpret policy and the lack of language skills necessary to aptly define it, people who are angry and dissatisfied are lashing out with the terms they do have given the warped meanings of those words they have been taught.

Obama is a neo-mercantilist? Neomercantilists want to run a trade surplus, not run up a huge government debt to spur consumption and therefore run a large trade deficit.

I just laughed at the caption. Seemed pretty ironic to me. ;)

Are you implying that the attempt to weaken a currency while at the same time seeking to limit free-trade in favor of tariffs doesn't encourage exports, and discourage imports? Are you also implying that current Democratic and Republican policy doesn't seek control capital movements and formation, and centralize monetary and currency decisions in the hands of the federal government?

That's racist!

Bush is Hitler was par for the course back in the day. I mean ok, it's lame but it's hard to get worked up over it.

It isn't if you are looking for a reason to get worked up. I'm just surprised that there wasn't the same "calling out" by our resident "caller outer" over the eight years of the previous administration. I mean, as Mookhow showed there was *plenty* of opportunity to bring it to light. Apparently, when the President is not in his tribe, he doesn't have the same standards.

Yup, Vindicarre. I've noticed that in some folks.

I wonder if the use of the word "tribe" would have been construed to be something racist or otherwise malicious if it had been used by a conservative in describing a situation involving President Obama.

Rynar, if past examples were to be used for reference, it absolutely would have been deemed a racist remark.

just like it was perfectly acceptable (and **** hilarious) to compare Bush to a monkey... as soon as you compare Obama to a monkey, it is racist.

This.

Also, we are not living in China or something. If people want to pay for billboards that say bad things about the government, well, they have that right.
I don't see the big deal.

I see it as a big deal, but I'm powerless to influence things.

I respect the office. I think the man is doing his best to represent those who elected him. I just wish he had what it takes to inspire his opponents to respect him.

I wish his skills as a diplomat were matched with skills as a leader.

Honestly, though, Bush had a few photos where he honestly looked like a chimp. It was hilarious.

I agree, and I really did find the comparisons funny as hell. That was not sarcasm, I laughed at all of them.

I was going for 'pathetic'. Comparing someone to Hitler is just being provocative, and people think you're just being extremist yourself. It's like turning up the hyperbole to 11.

Serienya:

Really? Because it's a rather adroit comparison when it comes to matters of economic and financial regulatory policy. I'm willing to suspect that you know very little about how Hitler's administration operated or his road to power. Rather, you just know about the Holocaust and World War II. It's not hyperbole in the least to compare either of the last two Presidents to Hitler or Mussolini or Franco. There are similarities we should recognize; similarities that should cause us all to chafe. And if the only thing we know about any of the socialist European dictators is that they prosecuted war crimes, then we should be ashamed of ourselves.
