Red States funded by Blue States |

Monte wrote: That map is just about worthless since it doesn't provide any information regarding the magnitude of the differences. But even so, by my count, 11 out of the 29 (38% of) blue states in the last election receive more in federal revenues than they pay in federal taxes. And on the other side of the equation, the largest (and perhaps most "notorious") red state pays more in federal taxes than it receives. That's not much of a correlation, especially when you're honest and don't count "swing states" as being either red or blue. |

it also over looks various aspects about the states make up of lands, Take arizona for instance over 70% of the state is public land We have 6 very large National forests 15 national monuments and 24 National parks. Compared that to Texas which is 90% privately held land. Where do you think the funding for federal land management should come from? |

hell I didn't even think about that, The Navajo Reservation is the largest in the US. Large enough that they have talked about becoming their own State, It usually dies when they realize the change in federal funding would cost them money. 12 Indian reservations In AZ |

Federal land should be paid by federal dollars. "Public land" can be federal, state, or local. You sort of imply that the feds own and should pay for 70% of Arizona. |

Often it's hard to separate the 2 Alamo lake state park for instance, is run and funded by the state but it's a federal flood control project off the Bill Williams river, it's also backed up against a national wildlife preserve. good map that covers the federal Lands in AZ http://www.nationalatlas.gov/printable/ ... nds/az.pdf |

The debt incurred by states is necessary to pay for public services. Taking on debts is part of the normal functioning of government and is not a large concern. |
