Okay, Chicago's out of the running for the Olympics. Can our leadership get back to important things now like giving our troops in Afghanistan what they need to win?

Like a lift home? They are now discussing whether or not it would be a bad thing to let the Taliban retake Afghanistan.

We may sell the Afghanis out. Again.

It would be a bad thing.

Selling out the Afghanis would be a very bad thing.

We will just be back in another three to eleven years.

On the Olympic selection of Rio, good stuff. Its about time South America had an Olympics. Rio is an international city already, huge tourist destination.

The President went and flew the flag for Chicago, got some good publicity, set the stage for a future attempt. They'll get it eventually, and hopefully the economy will be in better shape to build the infrastructure and facilities needed for the event.

Another positive, the events will be in a reasonable time zone for watching them live.

at least now we don't have to hear about the rampant corruption that was sure to plague the olympics if they were held in Chicago

I am amazed at how quickly Bush's failure in Afganistan is being laid at Obama's feet with less than a year in office.

Yes, that was sarcasm.

Let's not lose perspective on who bungled this war.

In all seriousness, when can we start laying any kind of blame for Afghanistan at his feet? Or does it only become his war when things start going better?

There were some standing issues that were in existence when he took office, but after about 3 months, the war is his. Not the issues, but the progress or lack thereof in dealing with the issues is his. Once he changes strategies, it's pretty much all his at that point.
