http://money.cnn.com/video/news/2010/10/05/f_mpw_buffett_taxes.fortune/?hpt=T2 Buffett basically says that current federal revenues are not enough and that the only ethical thing to do is to get the extra needed money from the very rich. |

Japan or Israel would pay boatloads of money. South Dakota, not South Carolina. There actually is nothing in South Dakota. The Carolinas, on the other hand, have actual value to the United States. |

I know, but you'd get more for South Carolina. |

Sure, but how much more? It wouldn't be worth the loss of production, whereas South Dakota is just sitting there. |

Beachfront property always goes for more. So probably quite a bit. |

My mistake. South Dakota has Mount Rushmore. It's North Dakota that's useless. |

I was about to object to selling South Dakota. I don't want to cross country lines for a motorcycle rally. |

No selling states to Israel or anyone else. It'd be a constant annoyance to see, say South Carolina, transform near-overnight into a profitable and soundly fiscally managed entity after getting out from under the BS we typically try to do. Maybe we can just, like, pawn South Carolina, and buy it back after making interest payments on it for a hundred years or so. That sounds more like something we'd actually do. |

There's no way it'll turn into a "soundly fiscally managed entity", so that should be annoyance free. |

I'm lousy at it - I just don't care enough to really go after it with the gusto required for a virtuoso performance. |

Yeah WB, it's clearly the rich tax cut that's the problem: Spoiler: |

Buffet should be made to repay every tax break he has ever received, on every venture he has ever attempted, retroactively to the day of his 18th birthday. If he does that, then ill pay attention to his gibbering. |

Hannibal -- I'd settle for Buffet declaring that he should pay more tax, rather than speak for other people he deems have more than they need, too. Pass a bill offering people who think they're not taxed enough an avenue to donate to the Federal coffers. |

I think you can already do that. I remember when I was a kid seeing a story on the news about some teenage entrepraneur who had sent Bill Clinton a thousand dollar check for spending on certain federal programs. He apparently felt he had a responsibility. |
