NEWS IN BRIEF Quote: Obama To Take Break From Stumping To Preside Over United States HARTFORD, CT—Following a speech tomorrow afternoon in support of Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal, top Democratic Party member Barack Obama is expected to take advantage of a brief lull in his hectic schedule to govern the United States of America, sources reported Thursday. "Barack should have a little bit of free time in the car when we travel between the get-out-the-vote rally in East Hartford and the fundraising dinner for [Connecticut gubernatorial candidate] Dan Malloy," said Obama aide Lisa McMaster, admitting that most of the business of being leader of the free world would have to wait for the few days between the end of the midterm election cycle and the start of the 2010 presidential campaign. "Those 15 or so minutes should allow him to skim the past week’s national security briefings, sign a few pieces of legislation, and shoot a 45-second call to South Korean prime minister Kim Hwang-sik to hammer out a free-trade pact." McMaster added that if everything goes perfectly, Obama might have a moment between the dinner's salad and entrée courses to authorize a missile strike on suspected al-Qaeda sites in Yemen. Somebody had to say it. |

Being President can't interfere with his golf game, because he's generally too busy doing unimportant **** to be President. |

Well, see, when Europe doesn't call anymore because being seen with Obama over there is poison to *their* re-election opportunities, there's not much Presiding to while Congress is out campaigning instead of passing bills for him to sign before they're done being read... |

I'd just like to find out where all the protestors are who were yammering on about "Bush on the ranch" and "deficits" and "Endless war". |

You made me look for the latest from Cindy Sheehan. She's still at it, only now there's not so much publicity. Make of that what you will. |

The lapdog media outlets don't want to point out the emperor has no clothes? Id also like to see the nightly civilian casulty count from Afghanistan plastered across the ticker ad nauseum. Not going to happen until we have a non Dem person in the WH. Here's hoping for an Independant rather then a Rep. |

He said he would fight for jobs, man, he didn't specify which ones. I actually agree with Aizle. He's POTUS, but he's also the figurehead of the Democratic Party. Part of his job is to prepare and execute an agenda. To do this effectively he needs as much support in Congress as he can get. He needs to be both and get it all done. That's politics in the US. It is what it is. /shrug |

A President should be above campaigning as their first duty is to the American people not any party. |

I don't necessarily disagree, but I suspect that if you ask any President ever, they would say that in their opinion getting their party elected is the best way to fulfill what they believe their duty is to the American people. |

I suppose not. Here is a clue - I used the word "should". See I didn't even make you buy it yourself. |

Yes, the word "should" was clear. |
