People always seem to talk so much about what they hate about their jobs. Not enough is said about what they like. What's one thing you like about yours?

I like how at mine I can spend most of the time thinking about what to do, and relatively little time actually implementing it (since it's straight-forward once you have it all figured out). It's an engineering job. There's very little menial tasks.

Is 'The Paycheck' not the obvious answer here?

All jobs have paychecks. I meant more about good aspects that not all jobs might have.

If I can't answer "Paycheck", I'm going to go with the 15% Bonus.

Fair enough. :D. I got a 9% bonus last year.

Hmm my last bonus was 5% of my quarterly earnings. But I get a chance at 4 of them a year so it's all good.

What I like most about my job? I'm at the point where they leave me alone to do it. That and in the summer I get a kickass farmers tan!

I got a 0.3% bonus, hehe.

It's ok, though - we're just happy to be profitable. Not many similar firms are right now.

What I like most about my job? Free reign. I don't get bothered much by my boss.

My bonus is 15% of my base pay, and it can be paid out anywhere from 0% to 150% and it gets paid out quarterly.

I don't believe I've ever received anything less than 100% of the 15%. 2011' Q1 bonus was paid out at 150% of 15% of my base.

I also like how I can go into work when I want and leave when I want.

Money is irrelevant to me so long as I can buy a new gadget occasionally, save some money and pay my bills.

The best thing about my job is my development schedule - 80% work projects, 20% personal projects / experiments. It's amazing for keeping the job from stagnating. It also allows me to keep my skills at the level they need to be, while occasionally ending in something useful for our clients.

I get to work with laser guns and airplanes, and I get to sit in the President's chair sometimes when no one is looking.

I get the freedom to come and go, as long as I’m on track for our projects.
I get to tell people if what they are doing are right/wrong and then stick my nose into their business to help them fix it, what girl doesn’t want that for a job!
I get to be as anal as I want, so when I go home, I can stop worrying about having 1 undone dish in the sink.
I get to use my manipulation skills for good as opposed to evil.
I get paid to stand around and gossip at functions.
I don’t have to speak to customers/’regular’ people, and the reasonable assumption of having calls put through is that it’s gone over the receptionist’ head. (There are exceptions)
I don’t get bonus, but I get awards when we finish major projects. (only around 1% but we finish a couple a year hehe.)
I’m learning something new everyday, which I know will help me get into the position I want in the future with a much higher pay.
The people I work with are awesome! (And there’s free chocolate cookies)

Set my own pay.
Come and go as I choose the 10% of the time I'm not working from home.
Choose my employers.

Most importantly, it affords me time to spend an unusually large amount of time with my daughters.

Everything. Being a Park Ranger is far and away the best job I've ever had.

I get to control part of the Internet.

And by the way, stop looking at that crap, it's disgusting.

Yes, you.

Yeah, you've got me there, Jocificus; I'd swap with you in a minute - as long as I could bring my girls with me to work ;)

shuyung, stop peeking! It was only for a minute and it was an accident I even got there in the first place.

I like that I have learned more about Cisco and ACME than I ever thought I would.

No, it's like subversion.

The paycheck and bonus I mentioned are the only two things that I like so much that if they took them away from me, I would quit (seek other employment), but there are some other nice bennies.

For example;
  • I work in a "lab" where I get to play with toys that most of the world wont even start reading about for six months to a year. =) I use the word 'play' loosely, as games are not (usually) involved. =)
  • My hours are fairly flexible (I work a soft shift).
  • I almost never have to work outside of the M-F 9-5 window, but it happens occasionally.
  • My boss is really cool and laid back.
  • It's generally a very low stress environment
  • The position is generally immune to economic factors. We have been hiring off and on since I worked here and have 4 new positions opening up in the next few months.
  • We are expanding the facility (it's a bit claustrophobic now) to be six times larger
  • The facility I work in has no signs outside or anything indicating that my company has a presence here. The parking stalls aren't even labeled. Most of the rest of the people in the (large) company I work for have heard of the facility I work at, but they have no idea where it is, and probably couldn't find it even if they had an address.

I could continue, but I think you get the picture (why do I feel like I'm suddenly playing 'What's My Line?' :p )....

ummm no to Lydiaa and Lex. It is session border controllers and such for a telephone network (more uses than that, but I work for a Telco.)

Oh, that's really funny then. Because Cisco uses something else called Acme.

I make my own schedule, and keep my own hours.
I have my own personal admin, whose duties and general job requirements I have 100% control over, as well as the outright ability to dismiss and hire at will.
I work from my home office about 75% of the time.
I decide who I will work for, and have the authority to fire my clients if they become a burden or decide against my recommendations.
I decide exactly how much I am compensated.
I am compensated very well.
I have an absurdly generous bonus structure.
I have a pension, stock options, a 401k, and a roth 401k, and my company matches my contributions up to 5%.
I have top end private sector benefits.
I travel frequently, usually paid for.
I am given a luxury week-long vacation at the end of every year.
I get to deal with people.
I spend much of my time at functions, tasting, ball games.
I get to spend as much time with my family as I want.
I get to genuinely help people.

There are many things I like about my job, but the most important to me is that is that what I do helps people who are about as far down and out as you can be get back up and reclaim their lives.
