Social welfare is one of my pet subjects atm. My stance – you should get a 3 strikes and you’re out policy, where under my legislation if you have claimed it 3 times, you don’t get anymore help. You should have learnt the first 3 times you stuffed up. If you want to claim welfare you have to first claim bankruptcy, this gives at least partial punishment and minimizes bumming off the government. As your welfare check, you’re returned 90% of all taxes you paid in the last 10 years in a lump sum. This would ensure if you never worked a day in your life, you get nothing. This also ensures you don’t just claim it every 10 years as bankruptcy is no fun and covered by many different laws. Kids under my policies will be considered a tax deduction, rather than an extra income. You will be able to claim back all tax associated with things you need for your kids, including food, school, healthcare, etc and a deduction on your income tax per kid. If you are unable to find a job, you could work at one of the many mundane jobs provided by the government. Either building a huge wall around the boarder, cleaning up beaches, fixing up roads, painting government buildings, toiling the field, etc, etc, etc. You will be paid a minimum wage for the field you’re in, however you’re given free time to look for jobs and will be given good references if you seek it. At your retirement, you will be given back 50% of what you paid in income tax back as a lump sum, you will also be given a bonus if you have never used welfare. But that’s just my perfect world scenario and I’m sure it’ll never happen. |

Sorry Lyd, under your system even someone like me would use my three strikes and retire. Bankruptcy would be little disincentive in order to get a seven-figure check. |

I don't know the people on welfare where I'm from tend to just be on it forever... Reapplying is not required. |

As long as your policy doesn't mean there will be more homeless people roaming the streets and annoying my car at red lights, it's probably fine. |
