I agree with that actually, it's just that it cheats the voting public. They aren't seeing the real guy, just what the campaign folks can get away with.
Well, I'd argue that's true in most cases with politicians. Nobody sees the real guy campaigning until he cheats on his wife or his taxes and gets caught. What they managed to cut back on is the sound bites taken out of context, scare tactics and similar from the other party, by controlling the flow of information. It isn't that you got a more or less accurate portrayal of the man than you did with the John Kerry campaign, it's that instead of seeing Obama the way the Republicans wanted you to see him (what Kerry fell victim to), they showed him how the democrats wanted you to see him. In either case, it's not accurate, it's just a matter of which party won the political battle.
