http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/06/06/ ... nment-com/ Quote: NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner has come clean. At a tense press conference on Monday, the six-term New York Democrat admitted to posting a lewd photo of himself on Twitter. The stunning turnaround came following a week of him issuing nothing but denials and often getting surly with reporters, before cutting them off completely. PHOTOS: Weiner Admits Sending Lewd Pictures (Warning: Some Graphic) While addressing the media at the Sheraton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, Weiner made the following statement: “Last Friday night I tweeted a photograph of myself that I intended to send as direct message as part of a joke to a woman in Seattle. Once I realized I posted it to Twitter, I panicked, I took it down and said that I had been hacked. I then continued with that story to stick to that story which was a hugely regrettable mistake.” Weiner apologized to the Seattle student, who was on the receiving end of the tweet. edit: changed title (didn't like looking at it) Sources told CBS 2 that Weiner decided over the weekend that he would go public with his admission, but had not set a date to do so. Those sources said the release of new photographs forced him to call Monday’s press conference. Photo Posted On BigGovernment.com Of Shirtless Rep. Anthony Weiner (credit: Biggovernment.com) “To be clear, the picture was of me and I sent it. I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife, Huma, and our family, and my constituents, my friends, supporters and staff,” Weiner said. Sources also said that Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, was willing to stand by her husband as he addressed the media, but that Weiner insisted she not be there, saying “it’s my responsibility. I’ll deal with it.” (credit: CBS 2) In addition, the congressman said that “over the past few years I have engaged in several inappropriate conversations conducted over Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, and occasionally on the phone with women I have met online.” Weiner said he “exchanged messages and photos of an explicit nature with about six women over the last three years.” He said “most” of the communications took place before his marriage, but admitted some took place afterward. One of those women was Meagan Broussard, a 26-year-old single mother from Texas. She told ABC News that Weiner was “eager to hear about if I wanted him or thought he was attractive.” Earlier, conservative author Andrew Breitbart posted two pictures of Weiner on his website BigGovernment.com, which Breitbart claimed were e-mailed to a young woman, who turned out to be Broussard. Breitbart said the photographs were sent to the woman from Weiner’s AOL email account via his BlackBerry on May 4 Weiner said that despite his online relationships, he has never met any of the women or “had any physical relationships at any time.” The Brooklyn and Queens congressman said that he may seek professional help, but tried to take responsibility for his actions stating “this is my own personal mistake. This is a deep weakness that I have demonstrated.” Meagan Broussard, one of the six women with whom Rep. Anthony Weiner admitted to exchanging "inappropriate" messages. (credit: AP Photo/Richard Drew) Weiner also said he would not resign and that he did not believe that he did anything that broke the law. He said he doesn’t believe he used government resources in sending the messages, and that his staff did not know he had done so. 1010 WINS’ Sonia Rincon Gets Reaction From New Yorkers In Forest Hills “I’m not resigning, and I’m going to try very hard to go back to work a better man and a better husband, too,” he said. However, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has called for an ethics committee investigation to see if House rules were broken. Weiner’s office released a statement shortly thereafter saying “I welcome and will fully cooperate with an investigation by the House Ethics Committee.” When asked if he would split from his wife, Weiner said he loved wife Abedin very much and that they would not split. A Photo Shows Anthony Weiner With Cats (credit: BigGovernment.com) Speaking before Weiner at the same hotel, Breitbart said “everything we’ve reported about this story has been true.” Weiner came under fire last week for a suggestive photo sent from his Twitter account of a man in grey underwear to a 21-year-old woman. Before speaking to the media Monday, the congressman had adamantly denied that he sent the photo and claimed he was the victim of a prank. Weiner had initially said that he was the victim of a hacker and that retained a lawyer to advise him on what legal action should be taken. His spokesman Dave Arnold had previously said the congressman’s “accounts were obviously hacked.” The “crotch” photo was first reported Saturday by BigGovernment.com. After his press conference, Congressman Weiner left the hotel through a back way followed by photographers. Interesting story. I wonder if he'll resign. (edit: changed title, didn't like looking at it) |

Something like that. I just don't like seeing it printed all day, and I refresh this forum a lot. Likewise if someone drew a shape of one on a wall near where my car is parked, I'd clean it off. |

Well he outright lied about it. Then the normal cast of characters slandered those who broke the story etc. I wonder what his take was on this when it happened to the Republican? |

Why...Just why, does ANYONE send raunchy/racy/pornographic pictures out over the internet anymore, especially a policitian? The technology has been out for a while now and I am certain people know how easily information can be disseminated so quickly now. It just isn't worth the risk. I can't believe anyone thinks something like this is safe and nothing could possibly go wrong. Dumb, dumb, dumb. |

The phone was on the floor and I was getting out of the shower when the cat hit the camera function. |

I can't believe anyone thinks something like this is safe and nothing could possibly go wrong. Dumb, dumb, dumb. They're still men. I would very surprised to learn of a male in an executive or political position making upwards of $250,000 a year that did not do this, married or not. They may not send lewd pictures of themselves but they will definitely be soliciting and receiving them from people they know in real life. Fidelity is virtually nonexistent amongst rich men in positions of power. They all do this. |

I bet that poor guys cheat more often than rich guys do. But then again, it's just so easy to hate the wealthy. |

Wow, I knew there was a reason to keep you off of ignore. Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity at least temporarily. Meh, but he's wrong. This isn't because of some flaw in character among the rich, or moral fortitude among the poor. It's because money provides an abundance of opportunity in that regard. With opportunity comes temptation. This is opportunity that a poor working man more often will have to work to acquire, whereas for the rich man, he's guaranteed to have such opportunities regularly fall in his lap. (So to speak.) |

This isn't true. Rich guys spend most of their time working. Poor guys socialize a lot and were raised in shittier households where people sleep around a lot and have kids outside of marriage. They get drunk more too. |

Way to generalize in entirely wrong directions, in both cases. |

If you searched alcoholism by household wage, do you expect poor people to have lower rates than wealthy? It's related to promiscuity. Also poor people definitely have more kids outside of wedlock, with more partners. I'm sure it's a statistic that can be found somewhere. edit: Basically, poor people **** up more in general. I'm not saying it's their "fault", but they just do. Adultery is included. |

I'm not saying it's their "fault", but they just do. Adultery is included. 1) Alcoholism would actually reduce opportunities for adultery. And it's certainly no more common as a percentage among the poor than the rich. The poor can't afford to get drunk that much. 2) Poor people tend to work more than the wealthy. Nevermind that the middleclass work more than both of them. The lawyer making several hundred thousand a year while working 100 hours a week isn't among the truly wealthy. 3) People find most of their opportunities for cheating at work, anyway, so the amount they work isn't really going to take away opportunities. 4) I believe you're confusing the bottom-feeding and criminal types with poor people. 5) One common drive among many of the rich is a lust for power and wealth and success, and that same type of drive creates the Tiger Woods of the world. Tiger would never have been so successful in his sport without the hunger that drove him to collect women like he collected golf trophies. The poor = gainfully employed people working in menial jobs. The rich = The independantly wealthy who spend as much time on a yacht or on a golf course as they do in bed. In between we've got the middle class, and below both we have the underclass, the criminals, the inner city gangs, etc. |

It shouldn't be the case, but poor people do get drunk more often because they have **** up priorities. They feel the need to drink away their problems and will sacrifice other things for another 40. |

The highest demographic for alcoholism is middle class white women. The lowest is black women. |
