Everyone knows babies are supposed to be barbequed, not microwaved. |

Well, it worked. PETA is getting the publicity they want, and they don't even have to actually pay to run the billboards. For some reason, people just can't treat PETA like their opinions are worthless. |

And they are absolutely mistaken. They are trying to market something. Their goal should engage your emotions but in order to feel sympathy for the animal - they engender anger against themselves and therefore their goal. |

Really? I hate PETA. I really do, and this is not disagreeing with people in Hellfire kind of hate either. This is the kind of hate that makes me think that sometimes it may be okay to take a life. |

There is room on this green earth for all of God's creations... ...right beside the mashed potatoes. |

Everything you eat was once alive... it's always been this way. If you can't accept your existence as an animal without photogenesis, then you can remove yourself from the gene pool. If you want to save the animals, then save the wheat too. Protest against people who cut down trees in their backyard. |

It originated as an advertisement for a restaurant in Saskatoon, SK. (I've never been there.) I'm sure you can use it. |

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/rea ... -by-nature I love the letters Cecil published about that article: (Paraphrased): Vegan Reader: "Comparing us to dogs or cats vs. cows is stupid. We're most closely related to chimps and apes, and they're vegetarians!" Cecil: "Uh, yeah, 'Vegetarians' who eat meat, too." |

I would like to go to the biological proof that people are omnivores and not herbivores... We have the flat grain grinding teeth AND sharp flesh rending teeth. We are designed to be eating both. |

I wonder what PETA's take on animals like lions are? Animals eat other animals as a part of the natural order. |

I don't get why some people (most frequently those to the right of center, politically) find PETA so infuriating. I mean, I agree that they take their philosophy too far, some of their ad campaigns go for shock value and cross the line into poor taste, but what's the big deal? Humane treatment of animals is, I would think, a relatively uncontroversial idea, so why get so worked up when PETA takes the point too far or makes it too bluntly? *shrug* I just don't understand the intensity of the backlash. |

Well, for me personally, it is because often times PETA seems to put the welfare of animals before that of humans. I am completely cool with animal rights, but going to such extremes as they do... Like the microwaved baby...instead of a huge uproar about child abuse and money being spent to raise awareness and prevention, they are using the dead baby as a voice for some chickens or pigs or something?? That ain't right. |
