Post subject:  Seven of Nine Causes Obama Victory?

Quote:
In a recent and amusing example, actress Jeri Ryan divorced her husband to play Seven of Nine on Star Trek Voyager (he refused to move to Hollywood with her). The divorce was contentious, and a lot of salacious dirt was spilled. When Jack Ryan ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004, the release of the documents forced him to withdraw, allowing his challenger to win in a landslide against a last-ditch replacement. The landslide victory propelled the challenger, Barack Obama, to a position from which he could then launch a campaign for President, and... well, you know the rest. But it probably goes differently in Voyager's historical database.

Never heard this before, can anyone confirm?

I remember Ryan withdrawing from the race, and I seem to remember it was linked to the divorce, but it was in Illinois and it didn't really matter that much to me. Hey, Geri Ryan diffused focus on whatever else appears on the same page.

Yes. I've even referenced it a few times on past incarnations of the Glade. What happened was, during the divorce hearings, it came out that Geri Ryan's husband liked to go to swinger clubs, and wanted to take his wife with him. She allagedly did not like it herself, and was pressured into going. Jack Ryan withdraws from the Senate race with scant months to go. The Republicans chose a black man to oppose Obama. Obama mopped the floor with the newcomer.

Despite the swinger thing, you'd think the fact that he killed a drug lord and stopped America and Russia from destroying each other would be enough positives to win the election.

Different Jack Ryan. Different Dimension. Still points for trying.

Trekkies are now the most hated and loved people in America.

Wait, what changed?

They really do have a hopelessly corrupt state government.
