Anyone keeping up with this?

Basics from what I know...Solyndra is some huge green company that Obama supported, visted, gave his blessing(hahahahah!!!!) and all that...500million in taxpayer money used on the company...company just filed for bankrupcey a year after Obama did his thing(kiss of death). Seems Obama and the WH were very close buddy with this company(lot's of visits to the WH from the big wigs of the company).

Anyway, seems things have really broken because the FBI just raided the company.

There's something seriously funky up with that link.

First time I clicked on it, it tried to send me to "https://secure.www.gladerebooted.org/...". Then I tried to open in a new tab, and it sent me to what looked like a redirector of some sort.

But if I copy the link address, and paste it, it works fine.

I heard about this. There are several places that Obama has visited that went under within a year. In all fairness, I have no idea if they are inordinate compared to other Presidents/candidates.

Not totally sure why this is that much news. I thought it was generally accepted that 'green' companies and innovation were considered high risk investments and that the reason the gov't was investing in them was that despite the 'big picture' reduction in pollution or other environmental benifits, it really isn't a sound business investment. If the market wont invest, then the gov't must. (so the theory goes) --if you're an adherent of that theory, you expect that some investments will tank.

You answered your own question. It's a big story because it wasn't a sound business investment, hence the market's reluctance to invest. Now 500 million in taxpayer's money is gone. Go, go government

Then there's the FBI knocking on the door, so I'm thinking it's more than your usual unsound business practices afoot.

You don't think it's news when a company, closely connected to the administraion, that received 500 million dollars, is raided by the FBI?

Solyndra sounds like an EQ ranger name. That is all.

I was thinking it sounded more like a boss mob that drops caster loot.

Update on the Failure-In-Chief

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/emails-ob ... d=14508865

Quote:
internal emails uncovered by investigators for the House Energy and Commerce Committee that were shared exclusively with ABC News show the Obama administration was keenly monitoring the progress of the loan, even as analysts were voicing serious concerns about the risk involved. "This deal is NOT ready for prime time," one White House budget analyst wrote in a March 10, 2009 email, nine days before the administration formally announced the loan.

"Solyndra" sounds to me like the evil corporation trying to kill the hero in some dystopian sci-fi movie.

Good Lord I can't keep with the updates for this story.

I did see an awesome statement about this though...

Maybe if we start calling Solyndra “Halliburton,” the MSM will begin covering this story?

Politics aside, I know companies go under all the time but this is really shitty for the 1000+ workers who just showed up one day and got canned.

Agreed, but that only appears to be the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

I still don't get it. Assuming Solyndra was doing very well, that would be 550million, for 1,100 jobs. WTF.
