They keep coming back to Ms. Oyama... "What has Google done to stop piracy" "Insert awesome stuff they've done" "No, what have you done proactively to stop piracy" It looks like they want google to do all the searches and proactively shut down all the pirate sites. Jesus **** they're stupid. "If these sites are illegal, then why is google still returning the results?" "Because we don't control the content on the internet you dolt? Like I've already explained this **** 6 times?" |

It seems like they wanted Google to be the judge, jury, and executioner AND lose lots of advertising money in the process, in addition to the engineering/administrative costs of these actions. |

See also: http://gladerebooted.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7499 If you haven't already, please spam your congresscritters about this. This is horrible, horrible legislation in so many ways. Even if you 100% support all of our IP laws as they currently stand, you should still oppose this legislation on the grounds that it forces private citizens to act as law enforcement and that it gives the U.S. federal government dangerous powers over the common DNS system. This is essentially a proposal for the Great Firewall of America, and nothing good can come of it for anyone. |

This Marino dude is a Tool of the Highest order. He's making my head hurt. One can look at kiddie porn and say Yep, that's kiddie porn and illegal. One cannot look at a clip of content and know that its infringing. |

The guy just got told why it was technically impossible and then said "Google has the technology to do it" - he just never even heard what was said. |

That last dude was a tool too. Only two people I thought knew a **** were the chairman dude, and that one chick that googled J Edgar and sait all the sites were legal. "Oh, but if you put in "Free J Edgar" you get a youtube link! " Yes tool, you do. And if you look, its not the movie, but a link to go watch the movie off site. |

It seems they want to ban Youtube videos that instruct people how to pirate? |

I can't actually listen to the stream right now, but that sounds about right. And probably not just "here's how to pirate game X" vids, either. Based on past behavior, I'm sure they're targeting even general reverse engineering tutorials that aren't tied to any product. Ex. tutorials for how to "unpack" a binary protected by Armadillo, or whatever (I don't even know if Armadillo is still a thing -- I've been away from the RE scene for awhile). Nevermind the fact that such tutorials aren't actually illegal. Nor should they be; there are any number of legitimate reasons, even with the **** that is the DMCA for why a person would both need to and be allowed to circumvent such protections. |

The more I think about this, the more annoyed I am about it. Those congresscritters had no **** clue what they were talking about. It was all about "Well, google search results come up with pirate sites when you search for pirate sites! What's google doing about this?!" The Google chick says "Well, we're taking down the search results within 6 hours of a DMCA notice being filed by the content creator like we're supposed to. In fact, we also have content search and screening to protect against people putting up copyrighted stuff that they're not supposed to." "That's not what I asked, what's Google doing against pirate and rogue sites?" SHE JUST **** TOLD YOU YOU EMPTY HEADED WASTE OF OXYGEN!!! JESUS ****!!! |

The votes in support of the bill are already bought and paid for. The Congress critters are just trying to look like they actually care in case their constituents are watching. |

I liked this comment on Hacker News: Quote: This is SO OFFENSIVE!!! She gives such great, clear technical answers -- they can detect child porn by a combination of reverse image search analysis and manual checks, but they can't visually tell whether a movie or song is licensed to play. Makes sense. "I'm sure we have the technology, we have the brainpower," responds some congrasshole. What **** idiots these people are. They don't have a right to dictate terms to people smarter than them.
After watching this incredibly infuriating thing, I hope they pass it. I hope it passes, and the economy of the US tanks, and it eats itself. **** these people, and **** everyone who voted for them. |
