Also I think they are premature at stating causality. It could be not coming into contact with differences at a younger age can cause slower development. |

Yeah, Elmo, even the article's "source not involved in the study" states that " it is correlational", "it's not as simple as their model presents it", the findings could come from the questions asked (not the ideology being used here as a whipping boy), and that it's "dangerous to take the findings literally". |

Assuming there's any merit at all to the "study", it's likely through several corellations, none of which get at causality. That said, a tennuous corellation between religiosity and IQ has been demonstrated in the past. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... n-God.html Assuming for a moment that this poll in the UK is representative of the population in other countries as a whole (which is not a foregone assumption), and that social "conservativism" is generally a result of religious belief, it would then make sense that socially "conservative" types would have, on average, lower IQs. |
