Did you get in it at school, in high school? If so, how bad?

I had 1 single session of detention for my entire public school career. It was because I went to the lake with some friends on senior skip day.

Nary a thing. I was smart enough to not get caught when I skipped. :)

Detention a couple of times. Once for scratching wall tiles around the water fountain, once for leaving class when the bell rang(typical "teacher didn't dismiss the class" bullshit). I'm sure I've been in there more times, but I don't remember why.

Detention, a couple times. Mostly for not shutting up when I should have.

I never got caught skipping (because I knew how to get away with it), but I did get the occasional detention for other things...

High school nothing, middle school is a whole separate can o' worms with lots of trouble. Something like 25+ detentions and 3 suspensions. That god it was before the zero tolerance mania or I would have been expelled.

For me it was an honesty thing and that the punishment wasn't any big deal. I think I had to sit in a room after school for an hour or two? I did all my homework and read a book.

Never got in trouble in HS. All my altercations were deemed self defense.

Saturday detention, couple of times. Catholic high school.

Once was in a shorthand class of all things. What a waste that was. The teacher was calling on people asking them how they'd write out words in shorthand:

"Sally: always"
"ay el"
"Johnny: were"
"double u are"
"Dash: come"
"what, right here in the back of the classroom?"

Saturday detention for that. Everyone laughed but she was not amused.

Another time I had to go see my English literature teacher for some reason, I forget why. Another class was in there and as I was talking to her they were busting my balls. I forget exactly what they were saying but just general nonsense. It was hard to hear her because of it so I turned to them all and said in a loud clear voice: "Shut the **** up". It was louder than I thought and the **** just sorta came out. The teacher was really flustered but found it funny I think, the Dean who was passing by and heard it not so much. They did shut up though!

I orchestrated a surreptitious change of everything yellow on campus, including parking lines, to Green over spring break. This warranted a comment about St. Patrick's Day on the morning announcements. Behind closed doors, since everyone involved was a senior honor graduate in a historically rural, minority high school ... we were told nothing was going to be done to us.

I went to a Catholic high school as well, and the girls who went there were anything but good. Let's just say Coro would have loved it there.

The only time I got in "trouble" was when I mumbled something under my breath at a really shitty teacher. She got pissy and sent a letter to Mom and Dad...well, it just so happened that it arrived on a Saturday morning, and I was cutting the grass, so I was the one who checked the mail. I saw a letter from the school, opened it and read it, then stuffed it away in my closet. I went to the teacher and insincerely "apologized," to cover that base and make sure she wouldn't follow up.

And that was it. If you took a full course load all four years of high school, you wound up graduating with two credits more than necessary. If your grades were good enough, you could "drop" one credit and simply not show up until second period (out of four) or leave early.

Since I was going to be valedictorian, my grades were high enough to ensure that I could do that. And since I'm not a morning person, I opted to come in at the start of second period the final semester. I also "tried out" for the golf team with a buddy...if you made the team, you practiced the last period of the day. I tried out (and sucked royally), and once free of that, I simply told the teacher of the default class during that period that I was out golfing. So my last semester, I only went for two periods the entire time. No one ever caught on, or if they did, they didn't care. :)
