Aaaand here we go again. CNN Linky Spoiler: Two things, kind of selfish in nature. My first thought is I'm really thankful that we have CCW people who carry at my church, as well as an action plan should we get some crazy in there. The second thing is, between this, the theatre thing, and several other incidents, I'm begining to rethink some of my personal thoughts on gun ownership/ccw |

7 330,000,000 The first is the number killed in the shooting. The second is the estimated population of the United States. That's not a national crisis. I'm sorry that people died, but it's not an emergency, and it's not a glaring flaw in the right to bear arms. |

No matter how much people say what Coro does, it will never get taken into account. It's simply too emotionally expedient to look at shootings as tragedies. |

I'm impressed by the Sikh reaction. Once we have some answers as to what motivated the shooter we may have more than he was an idiot who didn't bother to learn the difference between Sikh and Muslim, not that he should have been shooting the Muslims either. Sad. we have a very large Sikh community and a regional temple in my community. My experience is that they are good neighbors and citizens and cause little to no trouble. Easier to live around than a lot of the long established trash here. |

Yes, an idiot. White Supremacist, played bass in hate bands, Wade Michael Page, 40 years old, very active in the movement. Discharged from the army for drunk and AWOL, at least according to my local paper. Your reporting and the facts may vary. So far, no note, no message left behind. He didn't even say anything when he attacked, just started firing. His mother remembers him as an innocent little boy. A thought crossed my mind. Do you suppose the latest shootings have been a delayed reaction to the suicide bombers? Are some of the hate groups encouraging guys with no lives to go out in a blaze of glory killing others? The Sikhs in other parts of the world are condemning the slayings and asking America to stop the assaults on places of worship. Guys, we would if we could, but these are pretty random events with no warnings given. |

There is no evidence of that in either case. |

I know Rori, it just crossed my mind. Thought I would throw the idea out there. |

You want to see an 'emergency', go hang out in your favorite Syrian province. |

All mothers remember their sons as innocent little boys. The problem is that some mothers forget that their innocent little boys sometimes grow up to be not so innocent men. /conspiracy theory hat on What if the latest shootings have been "bought and paid for" in some way by the anti-gun crowd in order to push the government into wholesale bannings of all guns? Hmmm?? /conspiracy theory hat off |

I'm surprised he got that far in a Sikh temple, they are required to have a weapon on them at all time as a reminder of their duty to protect the weak. Some just use the ceremonial dagger but some take it seriously and arm up with .45s. |

It's not like there are mass stabbings and hammer attacks going on where gun laws are prohibitive right? |

From CNN - Link Quote: Amardeep Kaleka told CNN that the FBI told him his father attacked the shooter in the lobby, resulting in a "blood struggle." A knife close to the victim's body showed blood on it, he said.
