pew pew pew pew http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... e-gun.html Quote: A school district has demanded a three-year-old deaf student named Hunter use a different hand sign for his name as the current gesture resembles a gun, his parents have claimed. The Grand Island, Nebraska district reportedly has a policy forbidding children from bringing 'any instrument that looks like a weapon' to school. School administrators claim Hunter Spanjer's name sign, which he makes by crossing his index finger and middle finger and then shaking his hands, violates that policy, his parents said. |

Clearly, the state should require he change his legal name, as well, until such time as he is of age to be issued a license with the state Fish & Game. |

First of all, I don't see that the actions of one particular school district somehow imply a problem with the entire state. Second, the claim is being made by his parents saying that the school district made this demand. Is there any independent confirmation that the demand was actually made? |

I disagree. The best solution for the child requires no one to do any work at all. Fools. That's just about all GIPS officials will say for now. Hooray for modern, knee-jerk reactionary liberalism! Screwing with the self-identity of disabled children since 2012. |

If I have a deaf child I am going to name him/her "**** you and the horse the rode in on". It's a traditional name from the old country. |

This is rather absurd. However seems rather par for the course. Also I wonder if this is the ASL symbol for the noun hunter (in which case the schools ire is misplaced). |

And his ASL name could be a right handed middle finger while the left hand is held in a fist at about chest level, mimicking the holding of reins, bounced up and down twice. |

Ayep, that's how we pronounced it in the old country. |
