Unfortunately, it's the Baltimore Ravens, so I can't give them any credit. |

Why all the Ravens h9? They're like my favorite AFC team. Also, Ayanbadejo *was* a Bear at some point, so that may or may not make him more palatable |

But who else in the AFC is acceptable for me, as a Seahawks fan to like? Maybe the Houston Moocows? They're up there in my AFC list. Most of the AFC west is out, because my Hawks used to be AFC. AFC South? Yeah, the Moocows. The Titans have Hasselbeck, the Colts are Manningless, and the Jags... well, they're the Jags. AFC North? Bengals? Nah. Brow... yeah, they're barely functional. Steelers? Can't. According the the Seahawk Fan Charter of 2006, liking the Steelers is prohibited till 2015 at least. AFC East? I can't stand Boston teams, so the Patsies are out, Can't tolerate Rex "Footsies" Ryan, and the Phins are awful. So, if I'm going to pick an AFC team that's decent and kinda fun to watch, its the Ravens Besides, I take a certain perverse pleasure in liking the Ravens because of the Stealers and Superbowl X(lets get the Bus a ring)L. Also, Ray Lewis. |

There's no point to being a bandwagoning Browns fan. That'd be almost as masochistic as being a Cubs fan by choice. And yeah, the Sonics were moved to Oklahoma City... I don't get that, but they were repaid by the sports gods by falling to LeBrizzle and his Myizzle Hizzle in the championships. |

Bandwagoning is bandwagoning, no matter how you paint it. The Browns are a classic team; the There's limited circumstances under which it's acceptable to bandwagon. I could switch to the Steelers, but only the Steelers, for 3 reasons: A) I married a Steelers fan, B) The classic Browns-Steelers rivalry was rendered pointless by the destruction of the Browns and their reconstitution becuase it destroyed their talent pool; thus it's acceptable to switch to the other half of the rivalry out of historic respect and C) Along those same lines, the Browns aren't the original Browns anyhow, so since I was a Browns fan before the Betrayal; I get a grandfather-clause switch for my main team. Liking the Ravens, however, is just wrong - for any reason. Even Steelers fans don't like them, because the classic rivalry was eliminated. What's the point of a rivalry if your rival gets annihiliated and then re-made as a shadow of its former self? |

See, I'd have to care about the Browns to not like the Ravens Since George Moose doesn't Care about Browns Players, I'm free to like my Nevermores. |

That makes you a heretic, disrespectful of fine football traditions in the eyes of any Browns fan, and most likely and Steelers or Bengals fan too. Shameful, shameful. |

See, it always amuses me the vitriol Browns fans have towards the Ravens. Sure, you lost the Browns. But.. they're the Browns... it's not like you lost anything that fabulous. That team (meaning the players that got moved) had one good season in the 90's, and it was before the move, not in Baltimore. By the time they were worth caring about again, it had to have been half players who had never been Browns in the first place, right? |

That's all completely irrelevant. You don't just like a team when it's good. You like a team because it's your team. |

And the Ravens aren't your team anymore. The franchise is still in Cleveland. The lawsuit/arbitration or whatever determined that. The Browns just shut down for a while, and all their players got traded to a new team. You don't hate on and call traitors somebody who gets traded, or whose free agency sees him ending up at another team, do you? Sure, get pissed at whats-his-face who owned the team. Or, rather, get pissed at your constituency for not improving his stadium (which you had every right not to do -- the deal was it was privately operated, right?), and then turned around and built a new stadium on the public dime after he left anyways. But don't hate the new franchise that happens to have a lot of former-Browns. That's just silly. And you don't have to lecture me about not just liking your team when they're good. I'm a Redskins fan, for God's sake. Though, I have to note with glee that the NFC East came out swinging for the fences. The only reason their division suffered a loss is because the Giants and the Cowboys opened against each other... It's gonna be a tough schedule this year if that's anything to go on. Meanwhile... guess which division saw none of its teams rack a win this week? Oh, yes, tomorrow's going to see some good-natured ribbing of all the AFC North fans around here... |
